[Group] Super Four Non-VTEC Family: PB1 VerR & VerS

Hi Xdir...not really sure about the 93 model but hear say qite a bit here and there in the earlier days of the project 1. But my advise are these...

 

1) Don't ride the bike at slow speed too often as this build up heat easily in out climate here especially in start stop traffic in a hot day. They don't call it "Super" for nothing..the oil cooler need air cooling too.

 

2) If you ever had rectifier problem...have the rectifier relocated a bit and even fix a 12V bearing computer small fan on top of it..it helps as I noticed that the location of the rectifier is just path behind the streaming heat from your engine block. You can change to VTec 3 rectifier if ever there a change need be for the VTec 3 has better electronic component tolerence.

 

3) Make sure don't use tap water with with coolant...use distill water at all possible.

 

4) Oil change..any brand also can..be it for car motor oil..just make sure its never falls below level. This happened when you ride slow often and yes, the heat 'eats' up your oil. Sycnthetic (sp?) or not...doesn't matter but do your regular change timely. If you add metal conditional, make sure it stated that it can be used for motorcycle otherwise you have slipage problem becasue motobike is using "wet clutch"...I use X-1R brand.

 

Guess that's what I can think of so far as far as preventive measure are concern.

Actually if any S or R version...for the matter all the Vtec header can be done up like the PB1 if they really want to. I believe Seng Kwan at Auto Point, AMK Industrial Park 2 can custom make the whole pipe in stainless steel up to the can segment. The only thing he need tomake things fit is to shear off the header inlet port and weld it to your new stainless pipe...there!...voila!...end of rust!..and that black brownish harden dusty look.

I use Castrol Semi-Syn bought in JB. Change about every 3000km.

 

I tried a lousy full-syn once, then decided to stick to the Castrol Semi-Syn after that. Cant afford the better brands of fully-syn, so I dunno if it really is better than the Castrol i'm using now.

 

But I must say, Castrol oil is good.

 

hi bro, i use Castrol 4T racing once.. somehow feel the EO is very rough lei.. then change back to semi hor then start to get smaooth in engine liao.. is it my bike is 'pine mia motor:cry: '? must use low grade EO...sad.. but this time round i going to try fully syn again see how. is esso 4T gold good? currently i using shell semi syn.. ok for riding but morning or 3hr later start bike hor will stall engine, need to warm up bike again. i not going to use Shell again liao. Never face thing like tat b4...

Aiyah!...talk about electronic thingy I very_the_scape one...why?...I've been an electronic engineer in the RASF for 16 years and dealing with RADAR and Comms equipment. Of course am refering to things computers too..meaning programming and all. for "PGM"..there is nothing much you can't do with 'modification' ot the carbs and stuff that link with it in function...unless, you have access to the "firmware" (simple term..software in hardware usually an EPROM) that is already programmed. Even if you do, all other protocols that function with it are also affected..like sensor and all. Aiyah...simply put lah..things silicon is much more ill affected by heat thru wear and tear than harware parts. Anything can go...and I doubt our norm mech out there can handle it except to change new electronic parts in modular form which is costly. The only advantage I see here is FC because the PGM would figure out how much fuel for what kind of riding style you do with.

 

Very the deep lei... but i know is Fuel injection has better burning so the FC will be better compare to curb. but one thing got to take note if curb jam or wat hor still can wash/take out curb easily. but FI is ur bike won't be moving or it a big job(take out a lot of thing from ur bike to reach there) to clear the dirt on the FI. so concultion FI got anything faulty will cost u more then curb servicing.

I tink it is Spec2 design. Cuz few of my frenz whn 1st time saw my bike tot it is Spec2. So my guess only. Its alrdy tat design whn i bought it at the shop.

I guess u saying the timing chain, if i'm right. Most of S4 have this sound.. Vtec i dun know. cos of old bike liao thw timing chain abit out of tune liao. I ask KnT motor clifford tell me if want to do timing chain thingy will cost up to near $400. but some mech say if done liao sometime later it will come back again dun know y... mine also have but not loud so i dun bother. sometime think of put this and that to bike hor is vry $$ xiong one. or it will be like bro Xdir.. front or rear/ or both spocket wear liao.

I've used Maxima Extra before on my previous bikes. So far i can say it is gud. Gives better shifting of gears n smoother ride.

Tmr hope to ve my EO change to Maxima Extra for my PB1. U can give it a try or i wil update u the outcome if change it.

Hmm, i ve experience sometin like tat bf. It was my chain. For few days make irritating noise. Thn one day i decide to lub my chain, and thank gud, it lessen alot. Now i'm not bother by the noise again.

oh ok.. i face this last week hope can solve your problem... the front spocket might have wear liao. like the chain want to drop out like tat then go back again when u riding rite? hope this is the problem dun need to spend so much$$ on the timing chain:giddy:

I was almost about to change the whole sprocket n chain. Since it has stop making irritating noise, i changed my mind.

Its 15w50. Quite thick... In the beginning dont feel much diff. But after a few riding, thn i felt the diff. Even two of my frenz tat change to Maxima also said the same and one of them rides VerS.

I'm riding a 1993 PB1. So far ve coolant leakage only. May i know the other problems for the 1993 PB1?

 

usually rectifier problem change to fin type will solve the problem

Ok wil take tat advice... I always change or repair at my usual workshop. Rarely go to other shop except for LAB and Bikewerkz..
