Are there any biker friendly service station where the attendant will fill up your petrol tank for you?

I was at one recenty and I had some problem with operating the pump. One of the attendants was just hanging and chatting away so I asked for assistance. He brusquely replied...we dont do it for motor-cycles only for lorry and car, despite noticing my difficulty.

I am not being fussy but it would be a pleasant experience to find a biker friendly svc station..

depends on where you stay actually. find those stations that is usually empty all days. eg. jalan buroh SPC/ caltex.

When touring, its usually the rider that give way first before the bike itself.

got box got tour.

As with most things in life, most people are reasonably helpful if you approach them one on one to ask for help. Most petrol kiosks have pump attendants who will be happy to show you how to operate the pump when you ask them for help. Even if they don't operate it for you, they can instruct you how. Try another joint one by one and you'll see soon enough.

Hi theres:

If we bikers share a list of petrol svc stations which are biker friendly, and all bros and sis's patronize them whenevever possible, we might/should be able to convince them to change their attitude. My bike takes a full tank of $16 of petrol, and I am sure others takes much more. U walk along the street, it is not easy to pick up S$16. Our money is as good as everybody else. I also drive, and I dont see why bikers shld be discriminated against.

Of course let's be practical. If all attendants are busy, we can help ourself, just like the average/more savy motorist. But in normal situation 90% of the time ...u dtrive/ride up to a station, there is an attendant free .

This is an attitude problem...either the owner tell these guys.."dont waste your time on bikers/small fries. Or these attendants take it upon themselves to dis-respect the customer. Like in my case this guy was just chin-wagging right next to the pump, and cant help but notice I was having some problem. The irony is that it is very likely that the attendant are themselves bike users than car owners. and yet they treat a fellow bikie with such disdain.

In fact, rather than just submitting to resignation ..."Welcome to $pore..." says it all .....U dont want the business, let's take it to somewhere else where we are not treated with non-respect.

What say u?

I don’t see it and felt as discrimination. I prefer to fill it on my own, chances the pump attendants ruining the tank of the bike is very high if you let them filling up for you.

makes me feel more involved with the bike. don't wanna risk the attendant spilling petrol or scratching the tank work now do we?

True. I prefer to fill the tank up myself when I'm riding, since I do have to prop the bike upright to fill it. I don't mind them doing it when I'm driving though.

While I can support your objective of sharing a list of petrol svc stations which are biker friendly, I can't say the same about your reason.

Why must you infer discrimination (and assume some justifications for the other party) whenever something doesn't appear to work in a certain way? Often in these situations, you find that the other person does not imply the ill intent that you infer.

Well, I usually fill it up on my own as well. But that's not the point. The point is, that the attendant was disrespectful and discriminatory towards bikers. Now, that would well piss me off, so if I know which station this is, I'd make an effort to avoid it. If the station doesn't care about me as a customer, I'd choose to take my dollars elsewhere.

Yeah...bring ur dollars all the way to Thailand where they help u to pump petrol into ur bike for u.

Remember to change ur dollars to baht.

Do they shine your tyres, check your coolant, engine oil and clean the wind shield of your bike as well?

i always pump at the Esso near my place..

When I'm there with my car, Uncle will come and help me..

When i'm there with my bike, got a few times Uncle insisted to help me but I refused..

Most of the Uncles at that pump knows me.. once I even left my speedpass and coin/key pouch (they are bunched together) on the pump.. The Uncle returned to me when he saw me back at the station..

for me, most of the times i'll pump to the brim for car and bike.. Uncle normally will pump only until the pump flicked.. so most of the time i'll pump myself..

I also been pumping my own bike (and the family's car whenever I drive it.)

Better lah. Scared the attendant spill the fuel on the bike ... and then never clean.

But generally the uncles in my Pasir Ris area quite friendly. They see me then just nod to acknowledge that I'll pump myself.

Aiyah how difficult is it to take the damn petrol hose and pump the petrol yourself... If you want someone pump for you, I suggest you should buy a car and drive one.. They will happily pump it for you.. If you cant even fill up your own tank, then riding a motorbike is seriously not for you.. Its not as if you are changing your engine oil which is a little troublesome but can be DIY.. The problem is you will need tools and a proper place to dispose of your engine oil.. For pumping of petrol you just need your bike key, its a no brainer..

chill chill.... maybe we bike have small tanks coz pumping wise will not cost alot.... so compare the attendant is lazy to pump for us la.... pump urself la... if no ppl heck care u den after pump petrol jus park bike in front of the pump station and go in to the shopping area and relax lo.... since no one care why do we need to care whether got car waiting for pumping... lolz... chill chill.....

brother, why so serious? top up petrol only wat. i wonder what kind of difficulty u had with the pump....the hose got 1 knot?haha. cant be that hard to pump petrol.

most bikers, no, all bikers, fill their tanks on their own. i don't know about u but i have to push my bike upright to fill the tank to the brim and i would not want other ppl touching my bike. i dont really see the need for them to help me unless...the hose really got 1 knot.

i think the main reason is because bikes are more personal.

- to pump full tank, bikes has to be on center stand or tilted(sitting on the bike) which i think alot of people would rather do it themselves.

- key is required for the tank to open and close

- if not handled properly, bikes can easily topple

- weird if ur sitting on ur bike and some dude fills up the tank infront of ur balls...etc

there are some theories i came up with :)
