Hey guys,

Been to HKL earlier today for servicing before my Songkran trip.. Whilst the mech was checking my bike, he realised the slanted tire valve.. Due to the nature of the valve which was straight, I had a hard time pumping air to it all the time.. I had to perform some acrobatics in order to fit the nozzle to the valve causing the valve to be slanted.. According to him, the valve almost gave way & might be dangerous while travelling.. One of his patrons blown his back tire near Alor Setar with the same problem.. He almost crashed his bike..

I decided to change both valves for the high quality L-shaped ones..

See if you guys have the same problem..

Before (notice the valve slanting towards one side):

One of the 1st thing I change when I get a bike. Pls make sure you get the quality ones like bridgeport types cos LAB has some as well (stainless steel types). They came off in one of my friend's bike while on NS highway.

If you're riding a bike but not calculating the 50 possibilities in the 50 meters of road ahead of you, then you're dangerous and shouldnt be on one.

Recently was interested to get a power commander 5 for the 14. Did some research and talked to some ppl using it. Decided to go down to an 'authorised power commander dealer' claimed to be an 'expert in the field' n who was better in tuning then anyone else in Singapore. Thier adverts scream all over Motor Culture asia mag. Anyway this was what the 'Expert' tuner told me, " Your bike ah, special... if you want to use the PCV ah you must get the GI pro and also must get two additional O2 sensor :?. Because ah your ECU very clever one. I can only tune your bike 60% if you don get the GI pro and O2 sensor. Together with dyno tuning ah total is about $1200 ++ :faint:", these were the words from him.

$1200 ++ just to get a PCV sounded too much for me. Anyway the whole thing just sounded too ridiculous to me. I told him thanks and left the place with lots of ??? on my head. If it was so complicated to tune, I cld just get the auto tune (which includes a O2 sensor) which will do the job. He did not mention that option at all. Anyway, not convinced of the answer, I e- mailed Dynojet USA directly.

Provide Problem Details: I have a question on the PCV module. A local dealer advised me that I have to get the GI pro as well if I install the PCV in order to get an optimum tuning on my bike. I am now very confused. Pls advise me on what is appropriate. Your reply will be much appreciated. Thanks! Additional info: I have a pair of KR tune slip ons and DNA airfilter on my bike. This is my only modification.

And the reply:

I am not even sure what a “GI pro” is, but I can definitely tell you it is not something required by your Power Commander.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Chris Kelly

I am sharing this cause I do not want fellow bikers to fall for this kind of nonsense. Shops which claim they are experts in the field and provide this kind of nonsense should be avoided. If you want to know the name of the shop pls pm me. Wld be glad to share. Am sure that if it were to be a new unsuspecting rider, he wld have fallen for this and wld have been cheated big time. Pls share this ard Bros. I know that many patronise this shop. But be subjective of what you get done there. Simple servicing shld be fine I guess. BTW, this is my personal views based on my experience and my opinion. There are many DIE HARD supproters for this shop. So I leave it to each individual consumer to do thier own judgement.

Do note that hotel mention by zj if fully booked you got no chance to have your bike park in front of your hotel room. The place are patronize mostly by the locals.

The dates you mention looks tempting. Let me go and do some scheduling and see if I can join you guys.
