This is how the media portray us the bikers.

This sadly has some truth in it.

Can more be done? Are we really that naive and reckless?

is there any organization which takes care of bikers and helps to improve road skills, attitude towards safety, access to safety gear, improving other motorist's attitudes towards bikers? from what i see, TP is concerned about law and regulation, maybe once awhile they do a campaign. TP's message is ok, but just that their tone and delivery is not terribly effective. Motor tiam just wants to sell us stuff and modify our bikes, the Road Safety Council, i have no idea what they do, but doubt they are actually that active.

Things like improving safety for dispatch/delivery riders, could well be shouldered partly by their companies. Especially if it comes under Workplace Safety & Health regulations, company would be responsible for providing Personal Protective Equipment, or at the very least adopting internal regulations which make it compulsory for riders to wear basic protective gear like gloves and proper footwear. Came across a dispatch rider who fell down yesterday, a simple slip and fall on wet, tiled surface slope. he was wearing crocs. ankle was hurt, and leg was burnt by exhaust pipe. his injuries would be reduced if he was wearing proper shoes, or better yet, riding shoes/boots.

i am guilty for 2 they have pointed out. sometimes i wear crocs and short sleeved shirt to ride. at least i wear a flip up, gloves and long pants to ride.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

Lol bro this aint only on newspaper. I see this almost at everypart of BBDC's motorcycle and safety division. Hahaha. Maybe it's just a safety campaign. Unless the paper says motorcycle are terror on road then something is wrong.

No amount of riding gear can save you from incidents associated with bad riding habits, which are mostly the case isnt it?

If you're going tracking or doing some form of competitive riding somewhere(not on the roads of course), then full gear.

Yes i am guilty of such attire at times.

However, generally speaking, people whom have a sense of safety on the road and wear gear MOTT, usually have better riding habits.

Hence, by encouraging them to wear gear, it could indirectly get them to change their bad habits as they realise that safety is of utmost importance.

sometimes its not just how you ride.. accidents still can happen if you are bang outta no where from a reckless driver..riders always at losing end .... just like the 2 bangala worker... they are not even using the road.. also killed by driver.. gearing up is to protect you to minimize the damages that will cause to our fragile body.. didn't school educate us on that??

Do we always listen to wat schools teach us? Fact of life.

At the end of the day.. Wats crap to me is d publics view on riders who dun cover up. They expect us tp suit up of we are jus going around the corner? Not all people can afford a good armored jacket. Thus making it look like nore of a wabt than a necesstity when its the other way round.

If i wabt to follow wat school teaches me, i should gp buy elbow guards and knee guards and suit up.

Utmost bullshit.

It's quite disheartening to see riders on $30k machines with $30 helmets and $3 flip flops :p
