Can I actually change the brake hose to steel brake hose for a Sliverwing?

I find the brake not that effective for sudden slow down

can be done @ motoworld.

might need to wait for shipment cause they don't really keep stock for scooters.

or alternatively, can check with motovation for their venhill brake lines.

Okie, thanks

I also notice that Silverwing only has 2 brake disc compared to my previosu X9 which got 3 brake disc....why so ? Honda braking system very good ?:sian: :cheeky:

dun be surprise, sw has very good braking power.

as for the brake disc, there is a reason why the manufacturers make only 2 disc for this bike, cos its more than enough.

hmmm... the notion of sufficient is very subjective and sometimes dangerous to assume as it depends on many variables such as biker's riding style, speed, bike condition, riding/environmental conditions, etc. ... just my feelings after recovering from an accident

there could be many other reasons, apart from sufficiency. the japanese are famous for producing low priced quality products which are results of controlling cost without sacrificing too much quality. a technique commonly used in manufacturing is target costing. riders would very much like to have many aspects of the bike improved. but to the designers/producers, there is a targeted cost (cap) to keep, which affects their profitability and affordability of the bike for its target market

i happen to be joking with my friend last weekend about how nice if the stock SW were to come with steel braided brake hoses, dual disk front brakes, ABS, high performance exhaust, grounding, power abuser, low EMI ignition system, heavy stainless steel balancers, powered adjustable/ foldable rear-view mirrors, powered height adjustable windscreen, 2-way alarm system, hazard/parking lights, GPS mounting, etc.

his reply was... i may not want to pay so much for a maxi-scoot :cheeky:

steel brake hose really make a difference?

heard from a mechanic that some riders skidded becoz still not used to the more sensitive braking that results from the steel braided brake hoses... dunno how true

Don't think the steel braided hoses will make such a big difference to cause an accident... the main diff is a more consistent feel, plus it helps to maintain the quality of the brake fluid in the braking system.

It doesn't really increase braking power per se.... although it may result in the rider being able (once he is familiar with it) to brake harder in times of need due to increased feel.

Even the smallest spark can start a massive forest fire...

I think there is Link brake system where the front 3 port, rear 2 port. So when rear being tapped, front middle 1 port will be activated.. In doing so the brake power increases.. Save cost and still not compromising the safety....

Steel braided hoses dun increase brakin power just that when ridin for long distance the normal rubber type hose will expand and therefore u will have the fade brake feel but not steel braided one cos it dun expand that much compare to norm one. it will give u more constant feel throughout ur ride.....

oso wat brake fluid & hw they bleed play a very big part in the feel..must make sure they bleed till there no air inside.... if not it will have spongy feel

... what does balancer help in the handling? Makes the bike more stable? ...

balancers are the metallic thingy attached to the 2 ends of the handle-bar. see pic below:

http://www.motovationusa.com/mvstore/ProdImages/ssh01_lg.jpg

they're not big/heavy enough to have a stabilizing effect on the bike but rather, it works like a dampener to reduce vibrations at the ends of the handlebar, reducing the discomfort on the riders' hands/palms. imagine the handle bar as a tuning fork... secured at the middle and its 2 ends hanging out. vibrations from the engine/bike is transmitted to it, causing the ends to vibrate.

http://www.tomleemusic.ca/images/inventory/8897_t.jpg balancers makes the moving ends heavier, thus increasing mass inertia and reducing its "ability" to vibrate (in layman terms). heavier balancers are produced to serve this purpose... whether they work well is up to the users to decide
