switching on the head light is a must which is under the road law .. and actually the headlight do help rider to be seen ezier even in the day .. i believe in the day u all could oso see bikes light on rite .. so assuming that u are a car driver and when u wan to change lane u suddenly see a light y so weird .. so u will take a closer look n u noe is a bike over there..

that jus wat i tink la ..

Got choice meh? Hahaha ... just ride lor with headlight on. Does not kill you or anything rite? Plus can always use your headlight "to high beam" on those cars who are on the extreme right lane but then drive so slowly!!

I'm riding a new bike so definitely no choice (no headlight switch). Anyway, I don't see any harm in riding with the headlight switched on 24/7... it is for safety reasons.

To add some perspective, I'm an Ang Mo from Sweden, where also cars must keep their headlights on when driving, any time of the day.

Since I'm so used to this, when I first came to Singapore I sometimes didn't notice cars coming... at full daylight!

So yes, the headlight definitely makes a difference.

Huh? My bike manufactured & registered in 2001, how come mine still got the On/Off switch by default? I believe some bikes still DO come with this switch ba...

just be reponsible in riding, On the headlights wun die one...

Look into the mirror, if u see a figure (bike) how long do u take to comprehend that it is closing in fast or slow? If u see a patch of light, straight away u noe there's a vehicle, all u nid to notice is how fast e light is moving towards u...

Experience: Was in a car at nite, heard sound of a bike (Rxz) but didnt know where it is... whn changing lane, the bike horned and zoom past us like nobody business...

ya lor.. it's not as if they are at home, can save some from PUB..... but u pissed off also must concentrate on riding lah..

But one thing, bikes with all lights off, are definately dangerous.. Got a few times at night, i can't even see the bike (which don't have the lights on) , especially with the background glazing headlights from other vehicles. Very dangerous. Not visible at all.

I believe the rule was set in late 2001. New bikes after dat in sg do not come with the on/off switch.

I myself installed a on/off switch for my new k7. Only off it when i'm stuck in a jam @ customs. Other than that i keep it on no matter night or day.

My experience was when i was driving my lorry at marina bay. I missed the exit for ecp and was trying to wait for the traffic to clear so that i can do a u-turn. The place was very dark as the street lights were all covered by the thick tree canopies. When i saw the road was clear, i checked my blindspot and did my u-turn, turn halfway saw a very dark shadow in my side mirrors immediately first reaction was to e-brake.

True enuff a scrambler shot pass my lorry just narrowly missing it. The bugger was damn lucky my reaction was fast enuff otherwise he would have ended under my lorry liao. Guess wat, even though the bugger was in the wrong (no headlight no brakelight how to see him) he came back around to try and scold me. In the end he had to apologise to me after i told him off. After that he took off without his headlights and brakelights. I guess either he did not get the message or his wiring got problems... But poor me. My hands were abit shaky after that had to calm my nerves abit b4 i could drive again. :cheeky:

Relax!
