hey guyz show ya all sumting special.. SPC lubricate expert recommends me to use CAR engine oil on 2-stroke bikes.. izzit good for my bike i dun tink so rite?

Dear Mr. Soh,

We refer your email enquiry of 10 April 2005 on the above subject.

2-stroke motorcycle uses 2 types of engine oil:

1. 2T oil for internal combustion lubrication, and

2. Transmission oil for gears/transmission.

The transmission oil as recommended by the motorcycle manufacturer is normally automotive type engine oil (same as that used in cars).

The common viscosity grades available in our market are: SAE 20W50, 15W50, 10W50, 5W50.

Any of these grades are suitable.

SPC recommendation is Advante Super 15W50, meeting API SL

Quality of engine oil is measured in terms of API rating – the higher the alphabet (after “S”) means a higher quality.

API SL is higher than API SG which is higher than API SF, and so on.

Gear and transmission oil used in cars are different from that used in motorcycles. Viscosity grade of gear oil used for cars are normally rated SAE 90 or SAE 140, and meeting API GL5 quality.

What SPC oil pro recommend me to use on SP:

SPC ADVANTe SUPER is a super high performance multigrade motor oil designed to provide maximum engine cleanliness and protection against oxidation, wear, corrosion, deposit and sludge formation under the most severe driving conditions. It is developed for use in all types and makes of gasoline vehicles including those fitted with turbochargers, fuel injection systems and catalytic converters running on unleaded fuel.

SPC ADVANTe SUPER provides outstanding performance such as:

Maintains a very resistant oil film to protect the most sensitive parts of the engines.

Excellent resistance to oxidation and sludge formation.

Provides excellent antiwear, rust and corrosion protection.

Low oil consumption.

Outstanding engine cleanliness and antiwear properties leading to longer engine life.

Excellent thermal stability.

Reduces maintenance costs.

so far i used shell, rock oil, rp max-cycle, castrol r4 n silkolene (current).

i still rank rp max-cycle as the best oil in the group, current silkolene pro 4t plus is still not as slick as rp max-cycle.

will go back using rp max-cycle oil when i finish using all my silkolene oil.

Seems there are some experts here... does anyone know the difference between full-synthetic and semi-syn oil? Mechs always BS, and sometimes contradicting...

For 4 stroke engines which option is better;

A) Use cheap oil but change often; etc every 2000km or

B) Use expensive oil but seldom change; etc every 5000km.

Hello guys,

Have any of you use Royal Purple Max-Cycle 20W-50 on super four version S and experiencing the same thing as my friend's and me?

Both my friend and I are riding version S and we did an engine oil change recently with RP oil. We put in 3 bottles of the oil and plus replacement of engine oil filter. What happens now is that everytime we start our engine, our engines' rpm becomes for low. In my case, before engine oil change my engine's rpm is 500rpm and now its a bit lower. The worse problem which my friend and i encounter is that the engine die easily during the warming up. we have to rev abit in order to keep it from engine stall.

Any guys experiencing the same thing as me and my friend? Just wondering whether is it normal.

cheers,

chek wee.

i'm not riding s4 but a small bike, ur idling seem very low.

most bike idling rpm is around 1k, y not set a bit higher (like 800~1000 rpm)?

i used rp max-cycle eo b4 n i find it very slick (smooth) compared to fuchs pro4 plus n castrol r4.

will be using it again once i finish my current stock of fuchs eo.

u can't blame eo 4 low idling, it can be air filter choke or carb off balance or ignitor plug foul or worn n tears, many other faults.

try motul 300v or redline eo will be much better. :cheeky:

Hello guys...both my friend's and my version S are now functioning allrite without any engine stall. :) Perhaps its take a while for the new oil to take effects. *just guessing*

Hello guys.. If using engine oil with esters etc. polyol type of esters, the recommended engine oil change interval is the same, higher or lower?

Be happy always :-)
