Bro, don't use the 40 version. Have changed to the 40 and rode for around 60km. Shifting not that smooth and vibration felt at around 100kph. Now thinking want to flush out or not. Heat wise no dfferent from previous oil.

I think Carbine is using the 50 version. I need to confirm with him on the 50 version.

50 engine oil,for many brands are thicker in viscosity.Last longer as it can withstand higher temperature.

60 even better lol.

While the front no does not concern us. The front no should be a smaller no as possible for cold countries

The back no for us should be bigger no. The bigger the no the longer it can last

Correct me if im wrong

But there is a limit as well. Too thick and there will be too much drag on ur engine trying to pump the oil. Loss in power n FC. Jux like hw inline-4 which have smaller n lighter pistons are recommended to use 40wt whilst single thumpers n v-twins like scramblers n harleys use 50 or 60wt.

you using it for transmission? that a gear oil rating. i suppose it is ok.

Do you mean its good? But will the higher grade be redundant since mine is an old sports bike?

Just some update. The shifting has become smoother after almost 100km ride. I also notice the engine noise is noiser. Plus the fine vibration I felt at the footpeg, I assumed Shaeffer 5W40 is thinner than my previous engine oil which is 10W40. So maybe Shaeffer 5W50 will be a better choice. By the way I'm riding a K9 Hayabusa. Will go Malaysia try the higher rpm range before updating here.

it is fine as long as it is the correct rating and viscosity. grade in term of? the quality of the oil or viscosity?

what bike are you riding? i getting a bit confuse.

i always wonder about the science behind a bike response well to a particular oil. making an educated guess might be HTHS and coefficient of friction.

schaeffer have a HTHS of 4.5cP which is pretty impressive for a 40wt oil. it is even better then some dino 50wt oil so i doubt viscosity is the problem unless it is too thick. the only worry i have for this oil is running it in a share sump due to it wide viscosity spread.

maybe the oil is too slick for your bike liking? that my guess...

Ain't sure also. I only can report what I felt, that all. No science about it.

Anyway my latest update after a petrol run yesterday. Shifting got better, as good as before. As for the vibration, it still there. The weird thing is, it only happening on the right side of my bike. Meaning I can feel the fine vibration on my right grip and footpeg. But I kinda get used to it after a while. Will still be keen to try the 5W50 next 8k km later.

I'm using ROCKOIL right now. 15w50 trying out 1st time. not cheap at 26 a pop. but let's see how it goes. First impression is its quite translucent and appears thinner than Chex, which is also 50 weight.

I tried Maxima extra 10w40 on my bike, last about 3k km before it broke down. then i went to Chex, which performed better than Maxima AFAIK.

My bike seem to prefer 50 weight. Next oil change i plan to go for either schaffer or Royal purple, but RP only has the car version, not the motorcycle specific one. I tried schaffer on my Phantom before, no big changes from Chex, cheaper though.

Hey guys,i went today to Mx tradings and bought the Royal purple engine oil.

>Royal Purple API-licensed Motor Oil.It's under category under Automotive and not motorcycle.

http://royalpurpleconsumer.com/product-categories/automotive/#!royal-purple-motor-oil

http://royalpurpleconsumer.com/product-categories/motorcycle/#!max-cycle-motorcycle-engine-oil

i asked the salesman, whether it can be used for bikes. He replied for four cycles stated behind the bottle and yes for both cars and bikes.

I also did emailed Royal purple, waiting for reply.

Had anyone here used the same RP sold by Mx tradings for their bikes feedbacks and reviews would be much appreciated.Thanks.

Since i bought quite a few bottles from him.

Hi. I have been a user of rp SAE 10w40 oil and Schaeffers 20w50. Done my fair bit of reading and yes, stated by the respective manufacturer can be used on bikes.

Anyway, Im looking to trade my 4-6 bottles of schaeffers for a 10w40 oil because my bike demands it.

I got tried the 60wt before. The riding experience become so f...... heavy. That was the last time I use wt60 oil. Its a Motorex Powersynth 10W60. Maybe the oil too heavy for my bike.

My bike is FZ150i. The manual recommends 20W40 or 20W50 only.

26 for per bottle? Wah so expensive. Your Rockoil is it the Guardian or synthesis 4? Should be the Synthesis 4 is it?

From my experience.

Got tried these 4T engine oils.

Schaeffer 5w50 fully synthetic(1quart). This engine oil acceleration is very fast. It makes my heart beat faster and my eyes popup when on the road. Have to be more alert. What I don't like about this engine oil is it feels grainy in my engine. I use this for 1 time only.

Schaeffer 20W50 V twin(1 quart). This engine oil acceleration is very good. Not as fast as the 5W50 but I like it. Very smooth. The downside is its a semi synthetic which does not last as long as the fully synthetic. If Schaeffer got come out Fully syn 20W50 I sure support it.

RP Motor oil 10W40(1 quart). The automotive ones. Not the Max Cycle series. This one also I use once only. Not as smooth as other engine oil. Once sentence only to describe it. Simply I don't like it.

All the engine oil above are bought from MxTradings. The review above is tried on my bike which is a YAMAHA FZ150i. Results may vary for other bikes with diff makes and diff capacities. Please try and ride yourself to obtain the best results for your own bike.

As for now. I am using Penzzoil Fastrac Fully Synthetic 10W40. I like this oil. Just my preference I guess. Not everybody likes to drink coffee u know.

high chance are the schaeffer semi-synthetic will hold longer then the full synthetic in a share sump. the semi-synthetic version also have a better additive package then the fully synthetic:thumb:

i have read that the newer batch of schaeffer oil will have a small formula change. no longer they will have about 300-370ppm of moly. they will have a smaller amount of moly but a different type. my guess is trinuclear moly a.k.a Trimer from Infinium:angel: Trimer only need about 50-100ppm for maximum effect. good stuff to have in the oil:shy:

check this UOA. comparing Motul 7100 10w40 and retolla 5w40. both oil show similar wear at 2,000miles. both have similar viscosity but the Motul oil have higher fuel dillution. so much for a needing an expensive bike specific oil. comparing the 10w40 to 5w40 i won't be surprise the 5w40 sheared down more. i bet the dino rotella at 15w40 will hold it ground better.

Castrol Power 1 Racing more expensive than Penzzoil Fastrac right? I think $22 is it?

i saw it being RM48:cheeky: not sure of the price in singapore. i think it is quite a decent oil. once read someone using this castrol racing oil and motul 300v in his spark 135 for 5,000km and he got the oil tested. it show the oil still can go further. i have not seen the UOA myself.

both castrol and pennzoil oil should be designed on the concept of lower film strength for better engine response therefore i am educational guessing it might give you similar feeling.

I would like to recommend this awesome oil.

This oil is produced from specially formulated, high-quality Base Oil and enhanced with latest American Metal Treatment Technology (MTT) in Molecular formula. The products have been tested and proven to improve fuel and oil economy, reduce engine noise and vibration, lower operation and maintenance costs, extend the life span of engines and equipment in all applications and reduce emissions.

MTT is the ultimate lubricant enhancer that coats all metal surfaces with an ionized micro-layer of oil molecules and through metallurgical process form a durable polished-like micro-layer of hard metal that drastically resists wear, extreme pressure and excessive temperature.

Benefits:

1) Eliminates up to 96% of Engine Wear and Tear

2) Doubles or Triples Engine Life Span

3) Improves Engine Performance and Horse Power

4) Reduces Fuel Consumption by up to 20%

5) Contributes to Cleaner Emissions

6) Reduces Engine Operating Temperature

7) Reduces Noise Level and Vibration of Engine

8 ) Keeps Engine Totally Clean of any Deposits Build Up

9) Keeps Engine Running Even Under Extreme Conditions

10) Extend Oil Change 3 Times or Longer

This is oil is called HOCEN. Honestly I won't recommend things I don't use myself and I don't believe in. This product can really help us take care of our vehicle.

Now having sale on;

You gotta try it out to believe it. No harm trying. It reduces my fuel consumption by 10%-20%.

Its by order only.. Any shop selling..?

For performance go for the 10w40 oil.

For better protection use the 20w50 oil.

I think your bike will do well on the CHEX.

A little lazy to DIY anymore because spark plug changes and oil changes are not so straight forward anymore.

3L of oil gets messy without the right equiptments too when draining and then have to transport to the shop to be eco friendly.

Penzoil fastrac is getting my money next. :thumb:

Personally, i feel that for 2b bikes that uses 1L of oil, should be changed pretty often. 2000 - 3000 km. These engines, you can feel alot of difference with the oil that you are using.

However, for bikes that uses 2L and up, every 5000km.

Might be an overkill to some but im not a science guy and neither do i see the financial benefit and sending them for an oil analysis. Have you seen the condition of the oil when they change them? Damn.. Take my money motorman.

Ill stick to this digits. Thats servicing every 4 months for me.

Needless to say, look after your Oil levels. Always follow the manual recommendations when filling up, Check the dipstick in constant intervals.

You wouldnt go wrong.

Overfilling the oil might bust your gaskets and running too little oil will lead to engine failure.

Ive read from an Amsoil Oil rep that changing between semi and fully synthetic is alright.

but i was thinking.. If i was a short interval change guy it probabbly wouldnt matter. But i would come to think that synthetics stays awesome longer.

But all this marketing got me thinking that semi synthetic is poison to my ride. They are priced pretty close too.
