But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

I don't even lend money to friends, what more a stranger? Not because I'm stingy or a scrooge but I've had bad experiences in the past whereby friendships are severed because of money. It is very easy to lend or borrow money from friends but it is VERY hard to get it back or to return it. So now when friends want to borrow money from me, I just say that I value our friendship too much to risk lending him money...

an ex-gf taught me this .. "money lent to a friend, is best treated as a gift. if he/she returns it, it's no more than an incentive. if he/she doesn't, there's no disappointment, and (if you're saintly enough) no ill-will, and the friendship may not be lost."

she subsequently taught me that chio girls can go psycho after breakup - demanding money spent on dates/gifts and for lessons in life given (such as the above)

No. I always act blur and act poor. I also dont carry cash. Only carry card. So always proud to open my wallet to show potential borrowers that there is no cash in there. Thx.

maybe she is those kind of ppl, rather smoke then eat? LOL. they rather spend money go clubbing, smoking. then ended up no money take cab or eat. pathetic.

These kind of people screwed up priorities. Can club, drink, smoke and take cab but no money to eat. When go drinking, drink like camel but pretend nothing happened when it comes to pay the bill.

I don't mind treating some people to something but not lend money to anyone. Some people go out and such but never bring money and expect friends to pay for them, next time say that you're short of cash from the start at least; not till the last minute.

Can lend, but I must change job to Loan shark first!

Right now I also won't lend, unless got black and white to press charges if they default on payment.

With my face, nobody bothers to ask me for money. If it happens, most probably i wont have any to lend. But seriously, DO NOT be so helpful until go ATM with them and key money for them. Risk being robbed.

Its fishy that they cannot contact their so called local friend and borrow money from that supposed friend to the extent that they have to approach strangers on the street?

If a stranger (foreigner) passerby asks you to help him/her with some $ so that he/she can find a place to stay over while he/she contacts a 'local' friend, and promises to return you, would you lend?

If its a small amount, I don't see much harm, if its a large amount, even friends I don't trust.

Money lend is no money lost. Treat as charity. You will indefinitely get your money back in other forms if not in cash. If the person is dishonest in his/her lending reasons, then God will react accordingly. We are just only humans my dear friends.

Depends but I follow a simple logic:

1) got arms got legs, don't bother asking me for money if I don't know you.

2) No matter how long I know you, I'll never borrow you an amount I know you cannot pay back

3) I never borrow an amount I cannot afford to lose.

I have a certain rule about lending to strangers.

There are times, i simply tell them. When you are able, just do me a favour, donate what you want to return to me. It may be a $2. But I am sure, when the time comes, that $2 will be very important to some other people.

Considering that I was ever so broke, and tired, and strangers ever offered to cover my bus fare for that amount. Or that one time so broke with only $2, can only afford a chicken rice packet to share with my dog for the day.

But no need to come to me with sob stories. If I can, I will.

And all those pinoys coming to me with cards to raise funds for tsunami or earthquake in Phillipines. Sorry, no way. Its about as worse as fake monks and tissue sellers with the blind and those fake pretends beggars.

I concur. But I still buy tissues from those aunties. Its just sad to see that they still have to do so at their old age.

Those who knows how it feels to be absolutely broke knows who deserves to be lent to and who does not. I certaintly don't lend money to people who do not bother to improve their own lives rather just depend on others.
