hi fellow riders

just sharing my experience.

today while riding i entered PIE east bound, at the adam road entrance. was in the leftmost lane and maintained my course. someway before the whitley/stevens exit, a black mercedes benz, shd be a sports model coz i only noticed two doors type, swerve into my lane. there was a cabstar-type lorry in his lane about 1-2 car length ahead of me.

i was in the centre of the lane and had little time to react. just blared my horns (magnum/stebel, loud ones) and the car was so close i actually used my right leg to kick out at it and managed to make contact, hard kick too. the car maintained half in my lane and half in the lorry lane and refused to move back into his lane.

my speed around 60-70 and i estimate the car speed to be about 80-90. i then quickly accelerated and moved in front of the cabstar lorry.

saw the black merc exit at stevens and didnt give a damn about what just happened. looks to be a businessman/exec type and there was a passenger (another male exec type) in his front passenger seat.

wish i had enough time to make out the car plate number. alas everything happened too fast.

this bad experience made me wish i kept a large rock between my handlebar and my meters. if happen again i can throw the rock at the offending car. :(

as long as u reached ur destination in 1 pc should b ok.but when u kick the car wun ur bike wobble?

**************************

jus nw while riding.

fwah!1st time saw lady rider at aye.arnd 6.30am like dat.shld b a spark.pink wif stars.ahhhhhhh.i miss my pink bike.hahahaha

 I love my cute, small bike!

Exactly! I was hot and tired, see green = go already, somemore the junction so big, who knows the other side also see green = go also!

aye aye, know whatcha mean. i usually take that way back from moulmein-thomson after climbing. first time, tired and dirty, just wanted to whack home. almost s*** myself when i nearly had a head on with an oncoming m/c.

it's the damned way the road there curves. it's so wide a turn that it almost feels like it's a "go-straight" road, and that the other side is actually coming from your "left" as cross traffic. if that makes any sense.

frankly they should make red right turn arrow and regulate the oncoming traffic.

welllllll, on the bright side of things, i think all accidents there get responded to very quickly. police station just a few hundred meters down towards town and hospital right next door nia. haha.

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.

hi

i riding super4 and im 105kg. think there was only a slight wobble since the speed was 60-70kmh. still its a dangerous thing to do and i had no other choice, either kick the car to signal how close he was, or move onto road shoulder and potentially lose control.

icic..... i think lets all not resort to kicking or throwing things at cars....

If anything do what i do.... follow the car all the way to the nearest red light and then motion to have a "friendly chit chat" with the driver.

I always have the urge to kick out at cars also. Or stick a foot out while riding pass them to break the side windows. But always scared they will take my number plate down and report me!

Posted

I really feel better to not to kick the cars. Scully duno what happen ... the car move even closer to you and then kenna pushed to the left side another car/motorist bang you. Worse still if they not happy take down your number and try to claim you. Confirm its you wrong for kicking mah.

well, again its their word against yours/ours. onus on them to prove the dent/mark on the vehicle is made by the rider, and if i interpret correctly, this kind of thing is civil suit. police probably cff (close for filing) the case, unless the rider keeps doing this frequently, then got case to investigate. persistent hooliganism/nuisance on roads. one-off event or incident, police cant be bothered lah...

given a choice, kicking out at the car sounds so much safer compared to being forced onto road shoulder and losing control of the bike. i must admit that i did not regret doing what i did, though it may not be the smartest choice of action.

file police report for hooliganism, the driver also have to answer for their case. police are not stupid, trace back the lta highway cameras, can see clearly which vehicle was driving aggressively. i feel so sad, thinking about it. becoz im a driver too. and unfortunately in singapore not many drivers give a damn about bikers' presence on the road.

yes but they can file a police report, nuisance on the road... hooliganism.

once i was tailgated by this stupid car (really tailgated, like bumper to rear wheel kind). normally i will sit there awhile and then suddenly go into powerband with an ear-splitting howl and speed away like a rocket, but unfortunately a tp was nearby. so i politely moved into the slower lane and let him pass...

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.

..along PIE (westbound), exited at Jurong Town Hall exit and stopped at junction towards Bukit Batok, with a fellow KR rider beside me. Noticed the traffic light was red at the main road, with the right-turn signal just stopped flashing, followed by my own green light to proceed..So I thought it was safe to proceed, the KR rider already accelerated away.

Then as I was about to move off, I heard a double horn from the car on my left. Instinctively, I eased off the throttle and yup, to my surprise, a toyota corolla SJJ 322* * (can't remember the full plate) beat the red light from the main road and turn right to enter the sliproad to PIE, cutting right in front of me. Driver looked like a foreigner, with white skin and blond hair. I think if I had gone off sooner, my pillion & I would have flown off. And lucky for the KR rider, his pickup was very fast and got off the Toyota's way.

What was he thinking.. The green light for my right of way was on for about 2,3 seconds..and he still beat his red light-rightturn signal to turn.. sheesh.. :dozed:

Dress Not For The Ride, But Dress For The Fall

Just to share my experience today on the road, and hope everyone can take this as a reference as well as as lesson.

This incident happened today evening when I was going out to buy dinner.

I was going through a zebra crossing filter lane (a left turn) when the accident happen.

(it was my fault)

There was a private bus infront, and I was pretty much at the same speed as the bus. Since I'm at a pretty low speed (like around 20-30) , I did not take much precaution against the private bus.

Being overconfident, I started checking right early (the main road) and with the traffic condition, I ASSUMED that the bus infront would most probably had filter out of the zebra crossing .

HOWEVER, when I turned back my head front, I saw the bus at a complete stop, waiting for the opportunity to go out. Most probably due to its size, it needs more clearance to go out, so our judgement was DIFFERENT.

I end up bumping into the back of the bus (a light one) and inherted an average scratch and painwork damage to my front wheel fender. Luckily I wasnt really hurt and the bike is still working.

I was riding in my estate, and for a short distance and I let my guard up. And this is what happen. I'm writing it here so that everyone can take this as a reference and really do keep alert while riding. I am very lucky that it occured at low speed and no much damaged is done (to both user and bike) ,

and also a reminder to myself .

Adventure.

Its a very common mistake for new road users. My car instructor braked for me before when i misjudged many years ago; I also bumped into a taxi when i was a P plate rider. Usually these are hairy incidents with riders braking heavily at the last minute, and usually with not much damage. Hope ur's turned out fine. We live to ride another day.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

eh, good thing you're ok man. these things always have to watch out for. at cross-junctions, i always check if cross-traffic is slowing or stopped before i dash. else i let the cars go first to be meat shield.

y'know, since you got part of the plate. if you can remember the approximate time and the traffic junction where it happened, e.g. the exact street-street junction name, you can try to file a complaint. there are traffic junction cams all over. of course, up to the discretion of the tp whether to investigate or not la.

mmphhhh, sometimes i think some of these angmohs drive like they think singapore is some developing nation where they can barge around. ok ok, fair enough, there are plenty of nasty singaporean drivers as well.

my dad encountered one crazy ang moh some time back. he was on the right go straight lane approaching a junction. on the right side was the right turn only lane. some ang moh cut into the right-turn lane, accelerated and signalled + try to force my dad out of the lane cuz he wanted to cut back in. the fella clearly wanted to overtake using the right-turn only lane, then when cannot, cut back in hard. and mind you, my dad travels at legal + 10, not going slowly, and was overtaking vehicles on the other lanes already.

when they stopped at the red light, the ang moh still had the cheek to ask him, why didn't my dad give way to him. there was female chinese passenger. maybe it's a case of prick-waving. :D

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.

Yeah, truly had a stun of my life there. Hmm usually I'd move of first in order not to get 'stucked' in between the bigger vehicles. Nonetheless, I'll heed your advice and be extra careful when moving off @ cross-junctions. :)

On another note, what's with drivers that on their high-beam @ night? Was travelling on a 2-way rd with 2 lanes on each side, was already accelerating @ the 1 st lane when this car coming frm the opposite direction was travelling with his high-beam on. It totally blinded me for a splitsecond, tried to look away from the glare, but it was very hard though. Did 'open-close' sign with my hand as we passed each other, though I doubt he'd understand. Hopes that his high-beam won't cause a problem to other road users..
