today while riding!!!

1) went through a flood  @ upper thomson in the morning, would like to thank the kind driver who realised the wet situation i was in and allowed me to cut into lane 1 (lane 2 and 3 submerged). sweatz man, not fun to swim on a bike.

2) thereafter, reached office half dry - left shoe dry, right shoe drenched. pants mostly dry, underwear wet, back of shirt dry, front of shirt soaked.. :faint: wear sweater whole day like dumpling..

3) as it was still raining when i reached, i wore my wet rain gear up til the office, but decided to take em off @ the fire exit staircase else will drench the office upholstery. i conveniently left my keys on the latch @ the stairs (pockets are deep buried by the rain gears).

i only remembered when i knocked off - went to bike, reach into pocket "EH?! keys not with me?!" traced back my exact path til i saw the keys.. -phew-

dunno if my bike was damaged, will observe for a few more rides.. Heng i changed my tires 1 week back, else that botak rear tire may have hydroplaned while i cut through the flooded area.

Hey bro jack! long time no see! lucky u managed to retrieve ur keys, do be careful otr.. my workplace entrance all flooded yday, lucky i came in early morning to avoid..

i was on the way to 2nd link for quick pump, and saw FBE yamaha R15 yellow bike (P Plate) lying on first lane near Teben Garden Exit. there were a few cars on road shoulder but no one attended to him, except one indian rider who stopped infront of me, so we didnt see the impact, later one chinese uncle came for help.

He was concious but couldnt move. M fizz flip up helmet took huge impact and chin bar flown away. but it saved his face. multiple bruises on arms and foot (tshirt and slippers)

called 999 and ambulance was there within 5 min. Hope the rider is ok..

It was evening around 6:00pm and setting sun was direct into face, there could be other vehicles involved but none of guilty party came to help.

His name is Ryan and pls help to inform his friend and family.

i saw that incident too, but was with boyf and saw that he had people attended to him, glad that he's conscious. saw the chinese uncle trying to talk to him around. guess the impact was hard? coz rider and bike lying quite far from each other, and saw another helmet much further infront.

n yah, it might be the sun that was distracting. even as a pillion i was squinting my eyes all the way.

ride safe , think of your loved ones. i saw too much accidents this week, kinda scared me abit.

then on PIE, huge jam on PIE both sides heading to BKE. wonder what happened .....

Slippers and bikes do not go together... dress for the crash... should wear shoes that at least protect your ankles.

Jeans at least...not shorts or bermudas... thats asking for trouble. Big time skin removal trouble.

Full face helmets are a must... flips up are only as good as the lock device that holds the chin guard down... who cares if the chin guard is made from space age titanium... once its flipped up or broken off... its your face grinding the tarmac.

Open face helmets??? Only as useful as a torn condom in the event of an accident. No crash no problem... once crash... can be very big problem.

Because we ride bikes... and we cannot predict the future... its better to be on the safe side and be prepared and dressed for the crash.

Don't believe it when people tell you that they are safety rider... they can be safe.. but its the other idiotic road users that are not safe.

Today the BKE, PIE and AYE, along with many other alternative routes were completely jammed. On other forums there was mention of a major accident on the PIE alone Adam Rd. Total deadlock from Mandai onwards, with some desperate cars trying to lanesplit, and occasional bumper to bumper contact could be heard not far away.

Had to detour all the way to West Coast Highway and go up north on the CTE to get where I need to be. Spent 2 hours on the road, instead of the normal 25 mins.

Posted

my detour took almost 1 hr this morning instead of 15 mins trip to my work place.. heard from my dad there is a very bad accident, and fatality believe to be a rider, unsure is it our locals or malaysian rider along PIE (changi bound) between eng neo & lornie exit.. the accident cover all 3 lanes. thats why traffic came to halt around 9am..

Yes, can't agree more with the "dress for the crash" part! :thumb:

As riders, we do have to ride defensively not only careful... just being careful is not enough.

well, the other day while riding..

bike ran out of petrol coz i forgot to top up the night b4! heng ran out after work, and near to petrol kiosks, still can push a bit. had it ran out on my way to work, gg..

quite a funny experience, coz to the end i was just free-wheeling - TOTALLY no fuel. :faint:

quite dangerous too coz it's like sudden engine cut - no brake lights during the power cut. heng no cars driving dangerously behind me.

thereafter, while riding home, this !&%!&$*^% rider decided to do a illegal u-turn right after a t-junction right turn, just so he can park illegally on the pavement. Ning nong piang! nearly slammed into him, we both swerved at the last moment and avoided the crash.

To the fellow biker bro, if u read this, u could (and should) have u-turned up ahead, legally or otherwise, further away from a t junction right turn. im glad u reacted accordingly at the last moment. that particular road has a continuous center white line for a reason.

hi jackorjack, since u mention it im rather curious of the situation when the fuel depletes fully in the midst of riding. is it akin to hitting the kill switch?

Posted

Eeerrrr..... actually no fuel not equals to totally off.

Lights are powered by battery. You can have an empty tank or have no tank (totally remove the tank) and the lights can still be on.

Saw an accident between a taxi and a suv right after entering PIE through eunos. Taxi bonnet went into the suv rear. Saw a number of riders stopped by the side to lend assistance. had a second giggle when one of the few guys around the scene shouted aggressively at one of the cars for honking. "hoi, Bok simi bok?!" It caused quite a significant jam at that spot right after eunos filter lane. Anyone happen to witness it?

Posted

quite bad i think..

saw 1 ambulance, 1 LTA marshall, 1 police hilux..

and i saw 2 TP lane splitting to get to the scene..

all when i was on the opposite direction..

wet weather, be careful guys..

This morning went to buy nasi lemak at changi village. Raining on the way back via Nicol drive near the slip road going into ECP. I was riding behind a Honda Wave.

There was a stationary big truck with hazard lights just before the slip road. I didnt really notice how or why, the Wave suddenly skidded sideways just behind the truck. I think the rider wasnt paying attention to/didnt notice the truck and suddenly jam brake and skidded.

Really gave me a shock as he fell right before me!

Interestingly, he skidded, immediately got up, waved me away from his bike. Good thing he was wearing raincoat and jeans.

(BB central, 2 lanes 1 way, kurb in between)

thereafter he followed me into the lane and taligated me very closely. nvm, relac, anyw lights was red.
