Anyone knows the chassis number for European batch and US batch? I don't want to end up getting a US batch....

1. Much larger signal lights (double filament bulbs inside. 1 lights up while riding, the other lights up when signaling.) U.S regulations

 

2, Reflective plates on the sides of front & rear tire area. US regulations

 

3. No immobilizer

Was just wondering whether this certain bikeshop was telling me the truth abt having parallel imports which has no local/agent warranty + engine has restrictions versus Hong Leong's batch of 08 R6 which cost a thousand dollars more.

Don't get confused with the car market. Cars have various versions of the same year/make/model meant for different market/region/countries. Hence parallel importers have the option in bringing the same car with less accessories inside (less tax), hence cheaper options to end consumers.

 

Parallel import might not mean it is a U.S bike. It could probably a Europe market version but not directly from the principal. The premium price you extra through a distributor = recall support. EG: for the air-box recall, a mail was sent to my house, attn even to my name. FOC

when a bike is produced, its made for worldwide, including cold countries.....where air temps can be 15 degree celcius.....without the thermostat.....the bike can be running too cold, say 45-50 celcius....so a thermostat is added. until the water temp hits 90 celcius, the thermostat will remain shut, causing water to heat up at engine side, to reduce the cold engine temps. once it hits 90, the thermostat opens up, allowing water to flow, allowing engine to cool, but once it hits 60, the thermostat will shut again.

 

however, in sg, the bike can easily run between 80-90 celcius.... so removing the thermostat, will allow it to run at low 80s...... meaning water flows thru non stop. no error code, no problem with ur bikes......only will run a little cooler.

 

this is not just for r6, but for any bike

hey guys. den usually when u guys ride ur R6 on normal roads.. not expressway. u guys ride about how much? coz as i read. u guys say if u ride too slow will heat up.. so how fast u guys ride? 100? or more than that? wad about in expressways? den if theres a jam. u guys definitely cant go really fast am i right..? so it will heat up until very jia lat?

the part circled in red is the thermostat housing. the ring/gasket is also shown. however, thermostat is not shown in this diagram. its a spring mechanism inside the housing.

 

u can DIY or look for ah ming from Imotoring. He have done this to a few bikes before. he also very careful with coolant refilling.

 

another option to cool the bike is to have a manual fan switch. that way, u can activate it, whenever it feels hot.

For manual switch, you got a lot of option from sim lim square. Installing itself can be DIY or motordiam. But seldom motordiam will just install that thing alone. Maybe when you go for full service, you can ask them to fix it for you.
