Haha this then i think you no need worry le. If like that a Vespa GT200 (i'm 1.62m and have to tip toe, for your height no prob). My fren is riding it and i can tell you it really is spacious. The under carriage is big.

thats right... gt200 has a seat height of 80cm...

gilera has it at around 85cm...

alot of guys who wishes to ride these 2 bikes also have to tip toe...

The main point of you getting a bike is for transport yes?

so why bother what other people think? Unless thier god, then you can bother lah, but if i were you, transport is transport. They can laugh at you if it looks "funny" but u can laugh at them back for being shallow

Juz get a runner, u can keep wearing ur skirt and u can also keep lots of stuff esp if u add a box to it. Dun worry bout "forgeting" how to use the clutch, coz u wun. Anyway, u have the whole of prac1 to "relearn" the clutch when u go for 2a, so why worry?

Wear skirt and even a minor spill might have very bad consequences.

Of course it up to everyone. If you think you wont spill ur bike, then by all means.

If u think about it, there's not much logical choice if u have to wear a skirt and also carry stuff and go biking. Nothing so vexing. There's only those few choices.

And since you intend to upgrade soon, just get a 2nd hand, cheap Vespa/Wave, then upgrade to 2A. And Cl2.

Actually, your requirements more or less already decided the bike you prefably have to buy. :)

Get those crusiers type like phantom? relaxed riding posture and can fit box and side boxs and it still looks nice and those boxes will give you many storage space for your documents. Just a suggestion. =)

NO!!!! Cruiser too dangerous for girls on the roads!!!

Imagine she wearing mini skirt riding a Phantom with legs open.

Accident rate sure go up where ever she goes.

Getting the Piaggio Galeria Big Brother, the 200cc X8 will be better.

Got plenty of space, under the seat for files, putting on a box for extra space will not look werid + wearing skirt no issue!

Only -ve point is that it is an automatic. So you do not get to practice riding a manual before you go for your 2A, but passing 2A is more of handling the extra weight and power. If you are used to light bikes, eg: 110cc wave. The experience you had may not do much good. Being used to the handling of a Big Heavy bike might more important when you go for the 2A. Anyway all the best for your 2B for now. :)

Hey guys,

I'm taking my Class 2b right now and i'm already worrying abt wad kinda bike i should get.

I'm standing at abt 1.7m and am of medium build. A instructor at SSDC once joked that the bike looks like a bicycle with me riding it!

I need a bike to commute to work and back and i don't wanna get one thats clutchless coz i'm dreaming of owning a ST11 one day and i fear that riding a clutchless bike will make me forget how to ride a manual one when i got for my class 2a a yr later.

Most of my guy frens recommended the scrambler but i'm a office worker and i do wear skirts sometimes so the scrambler is definitely out...help me out here guys!

You will not forget how to control the clutch or any other part of operating a motorcycle just because you ride a bike which is auto. You may not be smooth when you get a "real" bike but eventually you will learn.

Forgot to mention... it's the slow speed handling which is a concern when it comes to big bikes... going too fast is too easy on a big bike. :cheeky: I repeat too easy to go too fast in a big bike. :)

Skirt+bike = no

Anyway TS, if you plan to go back for 2a in a year then an auto bike shouldn't be too bad. Like someone above me has said, at the most you'll get stuck for a few extra lessons as you relearn your clutch control.

How about asking your instructors for advice?

Those who risk nothing, do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothing.

Whatever choices of bike you choose, 1 thing is clear, you will definitely overcome the clutch phobia, it's not a big deal once you get pass that mental block. In any case, ladies wearing skirts, for the advantages of having all the baggage room. Bikes like vespa/scooters certainly wins hands. I've even seen ang mo chicks ( taller than 1.7 ) on the roads with their scooter and 2-3 inch silletto heels.. If they can do it, I can't see why you can't look good with your office wear man..

Another thing, I do agree not to get a brand new bike to start, there are definitely great 2nd hand buys out there, just look closely and be patient.

I assume u work in the CBD, so a Piaggio Scooter would be good.

Dun worry about the manual or auto, it will sort itself our.

I actually have a lady nurse friend who rides a white ST like me .... so no worry also to your eventual ST riding endeavor.

ai ya whats the big deal with the skirt problem. wear jeans/shorts/pants and ride, then change to your skirt once u reach ur workplace lah.

get a spark with box. u can easily put ur documents and skirt in the box.

I take my bike practicals once a week and everytime i go back, it feels like i'm starting to learn all over again...i really can't think of what it'd be like to go clutchless for a year den go for my 2a. I'm so forgetful that my friends fear that i might become a roadkill myself. haha...

i think 1 year is just enough for me to keep practising before i go for my 2a so i'd really prefer a bike with clutch.

As for me wearing skirts, i always wear short denim skirts to work and they always ride up my thighs. Even if i were to give up my skirts to get the bike, i'll need a bike with space to carry my stuff like my documents.

I've discussed the possibility of a Honda Wave with my frens but they all say i'd look like im riding a bicycle...I would like to get a SP but then i find it too noisy.

Though 1.7m might not seem very tall in words, maybe u guys should meet me in person. I can recall that when i took my 1st bike practical, there was guys a bit bigger than me who kept complaining that the bikes are heavy but i find them ok for me. haha...

It seems to me that the choices of 2b bikes in singapore is really very very limited. Maybe they can up it to 400cc for 2b instead. heehee...

Maybe you can post your picture here for us to see so we can recommend better? Hahaha
