if it's for the appearance and the attention you been wanting... forget bout getting it... it will cost you too much for attention, but if you love riding a bike that give stability and flickability let alone speed.. it's the bike to go...

PGM is not a problematic bike .... But rather a high maintenance bike put it this way ....

Guess you are wrong..Problem comes with age and judging by the last year which a brand new pgm was sold(Forget about the Mah's pgm), it was in 1997..Nearly 10 years old bike..Unless the previous owner already change all the going to spoilt parts..If not, :goodluck:

There are no problematic bikes. Only problematic owners who are clueless about maintaining their bikes, and blame it on their machines when it breaks.

Past: KDX200, LC4 400, LC4 620, GSXR750WR

Present: CBR900RRY, Gas Gas EC250, XR250L, XR250RV, XR400 (motard-ed), NX650 Dominator

sound familar.. rather high maintaince ritE?? :cheer:

Not high actually...

It's whether the previous owner rectify the problem once they got it or drag and drag and drag before sending it for repairs..The time drag will result in other components being whack..

Let me quote you a few prices...

2T pump which cost $120 will have to be change once every 3-4 years.

CDI if spoilt will set you back at around $950

Speedo itself would cost you around $400

If you so damn suay kena piston jam, one side of the engine will cost you around $1.2k..Do note that pgm is a 90degree v-twin engine..Which means that it has 2 piston and 2 blk..

That's why i mention..You gonna understand what is the beauty behind a 250cc before you will appreciate it..

The pure 2 stroke sound, the cornering and the pickup..

I think it's very simple....if you're even remotely worried about maintenance, steer clear of 250 2 strokers. And obviously you're worried, so steer clear.

A lot of people say it's not hard to maintain...but it's much harder (and more frequent) than a 4 stroke with the same horsepower. Frankly ride it if you're willing to spare the dough.

oh yes, nobody mention the fuel consumption? Even if the bike don't break down you're still paying the same $ for petrol as a car.

hey guys.. dun juz vote yes if its onli a hear-say.. u gotta ride this urself 2 noe n feel man.. basically this bike didnt give me any prob.. only the coolant leak into the gearbox.. but its solved.. but think abt it.. its a 8 yrs old bike.. those rubber seals tends to harden or leak.. replacing these is a must.. so this is not consider as a prob at all.. this is wear n tear instead.. so far i onli services once since june, plugs changed, carb washed n oil changed then.. till few days ago den i replace new plugs.. thats all.. so does pgm consider a prob bike? i doubt rs r prob bike as well.. riding a stroker, u gotta find the right mechanic, do the right maintenance, take care of it.. n u wont be spending much.. imagine any 400 u gotta use 4 plugs, air filter, oil filter, 4 bottles of oil, service carb, how much more ur spending evy quarterly or half yr servicing... for mi juz 1 bottle of oil, 2 plugs, service carb n top 2t tts all.. thus i still prefer my 250.. :D

Yep, relatively minor ones here and there. All pretty much expected, it's an 8 year old italian 2-stroker after all. I figure it will take me about a year to sort out the bike nicely.

And oh yes, my car gives me better milage than the RS.
