Hello Aprillians,

Would just like to share my experience riding along the roads today along a good friend of mine whom just bought a 07 RS125.

I faced a flat rear wheel issue to start the day and out of the 3 petrol stations located along Jln Bt Merah, only the SPC had an air pump station which unfortunately was under maintenance. So we rode slow as having a flat tire gave me a very very unsafe ride. My rear tire was slipping from side to side as I rode at 70-80. Would have crashed into a Nissan if we had sloppy brakes. (I was dramatically an inch away from crashing).

After hitting the air station though, we went throttle happy and were flying on the roads. My friend's Gillera runner had a problem keeping sight of us on straight roads that he took a bad detour to Tampines although we wanted to end up on circuit road.

One problem though, I know the RS125 is an fuel beast, but my friend's 07 is a beast.

He has problems hitting 15km/l.

We got a couple of ideas what may be the problem and will be heading to workshop.

Just want to ask fellow members here if they might know any thing that may cause such a beast drinking problem.

When the winds resist my impetus and sights become passing shadows. Every other sound is voided, all but the undeniable roar of my engine.

My physical vision recepts naught, but my mind is tranquil.

I see my inner soul.

hmm.. is it too hard to imagine if i say i've launched n willie-ed d bike frm stand still?

Another 'hard to imagine' will be dat i've endo-ed my RS (main reason being to avoid accident)

So u mean tt it's best to keep it as stock? Do u have the same prob when u full throttle abit more when release clutch the carb will sound like 'Lao hong'?

I had a pressure reading of 68 when i hit the station! rims are fine but tires are abit worn due to overexposure of surface but still good for road use.

Will be getting new tires soon! Been reading old posts to get-to-know tires. Any recent recommendations though? One mainly for aggressive road riding.

Will be heading down to 37 come this saturday to wash valve carb tune.

Favor from anyone going down to 37 to ask for stock gear lever availability and price for me! Great appreciation in advanced.

What's wrong with your bike?

Aparently the hose on the oil tank for the water to flow down got stuck and the water flow into the oil tank and carb.

Left the bike at the work shop till tues to wash oil tank, carb and tune. Really hope everything will turn out fine. Gonna check if there's any way to fix the slow pickup.

No dude. Not that hard to imagine. I'm also living proof of those 2 'happenings' that u've mentioned. Haha.. Now i don't wanna attempt those on my '07 alrdy (though the stoppie occurs occasionally from hard-braking to avoid accidents). :faint: Was ok to do it on my 'bumblebee' 4 years back cos it was dying alrdy. :)

thats normal for a 2stroke bike designed to race.the lao hong is the suction ..nothing happens till needle hits 4000rpm...the old 250,350,400.500 2 strokes are identical..in fact the Suzuki RG250 Gamma tacho doesnt have 1,2 printed on the meter its starts from 3000 rpm ..

change the pipes...u find a world of difference

i have learn to brake with only my middle finger :p ...this actually minimise me snatching on the brakes in emergency which can result in a stoppie/endo whatever u may call it.our RS have a wonderful braking system which actually bites hard and if u still feel comfy with 2 fingers instead of 1 then practise to modulate n squeeze the levers hard instead of snatching it and at same time downshifting couple of gears n dumping the clutch to assist in slowing down...

hope this helps...

Thanks for the tip dude. :thumb: As for me, i always have 2 fingers over the clutch (pre-emptive engine seizure measures :pity:) and another 2 on the brakes (for emergency purposes). And yes i truly agree the how solid the brakes are. Those 2-finger actions by far saved me from crashing a lot of times due to taxis/cars/bikes that suddenly come into my lane abruptly. Safety first. Hehehe..

Hmmm, usually when I'm moving off I don't release clutch from the optimum bite point until i hit a good 20-25km/h. When I was familiarizing with my bike I don't know how many times it died when I threw clutch. Power kicks in just fine at half clutch.

I ride with my index finger covering the front brake, and no fingers covering the clutch. There are some pros and cons that come with covering the front brake.

Pros: Reaction time to brake is reduced since you're not wasting precious time moving your finger from the grip to the lever. Also, as personified noted, braking with fewer fingers lowers the risk of snatching the lever hard and over-braking.

Cons: Increased chance of suffering from the 'survival reaction' of braking in situations where more throttle/better steering would have improved the situation (e.g. coming in too hot into a slippery corner, panicking and immediately going hard on the front brake while leaned over). Also, I find my right hand gets fatigued faster with one finger covering the brake vs having all fingers wrapped around the bar.

I'm trying to change to having my index and middle fingers covering the front brake and see how that feels. Emergency braking with one finger, for me, is trickier than doing it with two fingers and with good modulation.

Yea, that's the titanium full system. Biketech (http://www.biketech21.sg/site/?page_id=8) sells it. They've confirmed that it is street-legal (i.e. registered). I'm trying to convince myself that I need it :D You can either go to Biketech yourself to buy it ($650) and have your favourite mech install it (~$50), or go to 37 Motoring and get them to source the pipe and install it (I believe they'll charge something like $750 all up). I'm thinking of saving some money and sourcing it myself.
