although im enjoying it every second..after 5 days.. im still not use to this bike's riding style... i just keep getting jamming sounds when moving off or slow speed 2nd gear after going over hump..

totally different from a inline 4. need some advice on how to minimize this..

I agree with the other guys, you need to use the clutch much more at lower speed than on a 4, or drop a gear, as Ducati gearing is designed for fast sweeping European roads and race tracks. Another option is to change the drive sprocket, as 1 tooth lower apparently makes a big difference. I have not tried this myself though!!! Also I find less revs at the lights and feathering clutch, makes far mechanical noise..

fufu, its a bike full of torque and I have e same jamming sound at 2 gear going over hump or slow speed. I think ur bike knocking sound and rough move off could be due to you r not used to it, I got my duc and it feels very different from other brands. I send for servicing and nothing is wrong, it took me a month to get used to the throttle and control. Even till now I still have the tendency of under power or over power at handling the throttle. Maybe u can reduce the clutch by changing e clutch slave and bembro to lighten your movement hence gaining more in control of e bike. My bike is 13 yrs old so I think yours is different, definately much more healthier. Just my 0.5 cents :):):):):)

thanks for ur input. well i think previous owner already change the slave. i can manage to control this jamming sound when im riding alone, but with pillion its abit harder to do it.. im either underpower or overpower and jamming sound comes out.

Bro..try riding down one gear..keeping revs higher

i already change my riding style and riding at 3rd 4th gear :D yeah might need a while to get use to the high revs

im still trying to find a best way to ride this bike as i dun like to make unnecessary gear changing .

thanks all for the help. appreciate it.

cheers

oh btw while i hear most of u are doing 15 to 18 km per litre... im only doing 12plus to 13 plus....

The bike isn't designed for city riding. I get about 12-16km/L depending on how much city riding I'm doing. Anyway, a superbike wasn't designed for economy so personally i use another bike whenever I'm heading into town.

I find the 1098's gearing not suitable for squeezing in town as well and is significantly more comfortable to ride once you've exceeded 50-60kph. Slow speed+ dry clutch dont mix!

FF, are you saying that the clutch is very grabby, and at times at the traffic light, instead of launching your bike you stall the engine instead, and at times during launch, your bike bunny hop ??

Keep ur revs above 2.5krpm (there is supposed a blind spot in the power between 3k to 3.5k on 1098 and SF) and note that on a hydraulic clutch, there isnt a true biting pt incomparitive to a cabled clutch. So clutch play is important.

4V engines were not built to be ridden slow. When u do, the bike gets angry, starts to shout at you, scold u, grins at u, might even spit at u, and will shake u to ask u to wake up ur idea.

Running a lowered front sprocket and higher rear sprocket will make ur bike more manageable but u will sacrifice your top end. Or u can install the nichols lighten flywheel.

this i agree as much.. when im riding fast, this bike is awesome.. pulls away like a jet on the move compared to my r1's pick up. this bike feels like a adult racing a kid-(R1)

FF, are you saying that the clutch is very grabby, and at times at the traffic light, instead of launching your bike you stall the engine instead, and at times during launch, your bike bunny hop ??

nope. never have stalling issues just jamming sounds whenever i move from stationary or picking up speed in 2nd gear after a hump or when speed is real low.

Keep ur revs above 2.5krpm (there is supposed a blind spot in the power between 3k to 3.5k on 1098 and SF) and note that on a hydraulic clutch, there isnt a true biting pt incomparitive to a cabled clutch. So clutch play is important.

yup i realised that i cant ride slow at all for this bike.. i cant even corner slowly... thats the worst part >

this bike rides like my rvf just minus the jamming sound.

Perfect! Thanks Germs, thought it might be a bit of a lottery... Really like the 2 into 1 SC-Concept pipes as the full system cleans up the look around the engine, but very much doubt that LTA have ever seen a set of these, let alone have them in the database... and not sure I like them that much to be the guinea pig Looks like a trip to Biketech is in order to see what deals they can do... :-)

no worries! they only other 2-1 i know is doubledog moto but im quite sure LTA will ban those based only on the look of it! its got amazing welds though. let me know if you're interested to get arrows? The last I enquired they would be able to offer a discount for 3 or more buyers and I may be interested to get them :)

Yes I am. Going to fulfill my dream. Been wanted to ride one of it but like you "Bo lui"

Till now still the same, Haiz.

Can only afford the the older series where my pocket allowed. But that is what I dream for too. Think this will be my last sport bike and not going any younger.

How is the green monster vs the yammie?

Or maybe you will get a red duke in the near future too?

Lighten fly wheel will make it worse... you'll need a heavier flywheel/crank to mitigate this effect... else you'll stall the engine.

Kawi rules over my 02 Yammie in all departments. Was a tad hesitant when I first bought it but now, no regrets. If I could afford a Duke, I would have used the money to get the Beemer S1000RR instead...
