It smelled like petroleum, how should i deal with it?

 

Today i spotted another weird problem, i was riding,den whenever i close throttle to engine break or to slow down, it will have those popping sound from the exhaust, only when i clutch in,den those sound would be gone, is it normal or something is wrong with the exhaust?

i m new to a phantom as well as a 6th gear bike. whats the normal speed range when u all change to 6th gear?

when i was still riding a phantom i hit 80kph on 5th, thn up to 6th until 150kph max.

hmm when u travel at what speed will the bike starts to vibrate? is it normal for the vibration?

oh, my bike vibrates even at idling.

my phantom was totally stripped, super light. stop at traffic light can see the front tyre shaking.

 

sorry i meant the vibrations that's more intense on the handle bar and the engine when travelling at higher speed, not the normal vibration

mine vibrates alot at ard 90kph.. but lessen at ard 110, so i usually cruise ard that spd.. above that, it vibrates to d extent of numbing my hands.. haha!

 

so its normal to travel 110km/h on ta200? will it strain the bike?

wat i'd recommend is this, when u wash ur bike clean that area with soap and a toothbrush, if it starts to come back yet again, it means ur carb gasket has spoilt, best is to change it asap, cuz u dun wanna have that vaporizing when it comes into contact with the hot engine block, and flash to flames...but then again, that is a very low % worse case scenario lah.

 

As for the popping sound, this is a trademark of a single cylinder engine, no worries with that...

u can start changing at 60kph onwards, there is no fix rule on how and when to change gears, rule of thumb is, dont stress the engine by changing too late when the rpm is shrieking, or too fast when the engine feels laborious using that gear...

I cruise at 110 on exp way most of e time, tthgat when my bike e most smooth moment for me

 

vibration, being a single cylinder engine, the vibration is much more heavier in certain rpm, example, when u rev your bike slowly thru the engine range, u'd notice that the mirrors would vibrate more at low to mid end than at mid to top end, this is because of the oscillation frequency...so its ok to have them at some point of time and it'll diminish off or reduce by itself...

Zomg bike got problem again.

 

Was traveling 100 to 110 along aye and bike dies on lane 1. Quickly filter to road sh and bike couldnt get into neutral, nor into gear 1. So I off engine, off lights n push the bike for 1m. Turn on engine and found my neutral gear and then start bike fail again, so Re-start + throttle and the bike started, then die off. Start+throttle again and maintain throttle until it stabilizes..now engine idling has a "kiak kiak" sound...:(

 

Anybody help please..?

ok this is very serious. firstly, check your engine oil level, and I would recommend you to tow your bike to your trusted workshop for your mechanic to have a look at it... your piston or valves might be out of position...

uncle at hwa chin quoted me $800 for a FULL overhaul along with welding of the broken part on the model block...basically im like changing a whole engine block because almost everything inside was damaged/worn out due to leaking of EO, its just 1 step away from piston jam and the bike can uplorry liao.

 

will go down everyday to see what they do to the engine block...

now overhaul and have to run in engine...but i notice this funny sound when in gear 4...and only gear 4..

err... get your mechanic to ride your bike in gear 4 to see if anything is amiss... if the gear teeth break, you would require another overhaul... :giddy:

gearbox overhaul is 550 from ah chong. ho say liao ahchong! lol.

 

next time please make sure got EO in engine, and if engine kapow, don't gey kiang keep riding. safety first.

Now we must teach ah chong to attain maximum reliability and performance at 110kph... like the rest of us kopitiam engineers are doing :)

 

im scare that im doing it wrong :( and scare of screwing gear 4 up...

you already screwed the bike engine once, i'm sure it wont mind you screwing it up again. LOL.

 

the uncle at hwa chin will also be more than happy to assist you in screwing up your gearbox also.

 

LOL.

 

bring back let the uncle check gear 4, most probably is the selector forks bent or something.

Hey guys i recently changed to a phantom TA200, when i change gear from gear 5 to gear 6 at like 60-80km/h i can hear a clack clack sound but it gets engaged to 6th gear still. but at faster speeds no sound. is this normal? or something is wrong?

clack clack because overgear liao.

 

for 60-80km you should be in gear 5 only. gear 6 for 80 and beyond. that why faster speed you hear no sound. cause your revs and speed is higher.
