if the bike could be push start...then charging sysytem is ok...the voltage reading should be around 14 to 14.5 v...the cdi..rectifier ..ok electrical syetem..ok..

return battery to shop..and get it charged or replaced..obviously the battery is the problem...note batteries comes with warranty..hope yours have it.

on the other hand thei push stRT IS UNSUCESSFULL..then further trouble shooting is required...

try jump start it with another battery/car..

have anothe experience that the starter motor is faulty get this verified too..

Hi, i need advice or any information that can lead me to what to do next.

I bought a Phantom TA 200 last week from a bike shop on 15 Jul and collected my bike on 16 Jul 2011.

Not until 20 July 2011 when i rode my bike to work at Clementi from Hougang, i realised the white smoke that is coming out from my bike pipe was so much. When i collected the bike on Saturday, i never ride far but within Hougang area and i used it for 2 days only and is definitely less than 30km.

Yesterday brought the bike to the bike shop and told the owner and he told me that maybe engine oil not enough or too much and many maybe of other things too... so i left the bike there for him to check further.

This morning i went back and he is asking me to pay S$200-S$300 to repair the piston ring or to change something (sorry my bike knowledge is limited) and i find this is ridiculous.

Over here, i would like to seek for advice or any information of what should i do next with this? to lodge a complaint with CASE?

Currently the bike is still at the bike shop.

Please help and greatly appreciated.

ok is the bike still under hire purchase?aka installment? anyway if u have a video or black n white stating the bike will be under warrenty that'd be a good counterfire to the shop, but if dont have then suck thumb, u either gotta poh loh soh the shop to repair FOC as u juz brought it out...

other than that, there is no legal recourse for u even if u file a civil suit, cuz it is the onus of the owner to make sure all things are in proper order before signing on the dotted line.

anyway i rather u take the bike out and go to other shop to do the overhaul, then the shop that where ur bike is currently, if he dont even wanna fulfil the basic moral obligation of selling a proper machine with warrenty, then i can imagine the can of worms that will spill out when he open ur engine block, he'll say here spoil there spoil even if the parts is still in good condition....

so my advice to is this, irregardless u full cash or bought under HP from them, take the bike out from there immediately, and go to a reputable shop to fix ur TA200.

Cheers!

if they ask for checking fee and whatnots, dont pay a single cent, juz take ur key and ride the bike off, if they choose to stop u from leaving, call police...and blow the matter outta proportion, saying u nv authorise them to carry out any form of checking, as there is no black n white, so they also LLST

Hi Bros

Just got my Phantom today :) Can I ask some stupid question...where is the choke ah? I saw something on the left of the carbuerator that looks like a choke..but I cant seem to pull it out!!

That's very good advice from hamster.

Don't let the shop repair, since you know they can't be trusted.

Most likely the owner already knew of the problem but still sell the bike to you.

And like what hamster said, don't pay them a single cent. :p

@Justin, your choke knob is stuck, just pull harder.

Damn my bike...eveytime I clean it there's always problems..

The tingling sounds are back, and it sounds like a loose chain but the mech tell me the chain is okay, I'm thinking whether there's any other chain parts in the bike?

Same as previous situation, the sound comes in when I have throttle reactions, like when I release or increase throttle and the sound differs..

Yes me too.... i got this sound and the bike shop change New Chain and 2 Sporket .. . . but the sound remain . . gone back few time adjust and tighten . . more or less this "click-clack" sound when speed above 60 KM and loudest around 100 KM . . .what is wrong ?

when is the last time you have clean your chains..i mean clean not lubed?/

u may have a dirty chain..

you could have a damage/worn out chain roller guide..the roller guide is at the exit of the front sprocket..

come to a diy session by ezzyoiler tomorrow 9am.....to figure out what is the issue..

for more infor check it out at the cubs/kup forum/yamaha x1 thread for more infor.

Chrome parts very hard to maintain.

Wash and dry, then wax double coat twice every week.

Chain got sound can be alot of things, cannot tell for sure without having a look look see see.

Sound can be roller (I experience before), loose chain, too tight a chain, wrong chain to sprocket size, poor alignment or like ezzyoiler said dry chain that is dirty or oil less hence become stiff making sound when bending

Is there a possibility that the gear from the gear box have worn off?:)

there is no possibility, its only definitely will, most encounter the rattling on 6th but some lucky few like me encounter it on the 5th gear...so for me not so bad, still can ride, juz skip 5th gear can already, but if its 6th gear u still can ride without engaging the 6th gear, but its terrible lah...no speed and high fc also....

Basically the white smoke from your engine is burning engine oil, leading to loss of lubrication and severe wear of the engine parts due to metal on metal friction. Usually it warrants an overhaul as most of the moving parts especially those in the top case (piston, piston rings, cams, valves) usually suffer the most damage. I believe the shop should have at least done some basic servicing and maintenance on the vehicle before selling it, but obviously this was not done. You should keep all hard copies of receipts and documents to substantiate your case should you need to make a report. Find out the terms of purchase for any information you can use against the shop. The best chance you have would probably be to do what hamsterwhale has mentioned - go to the shop and make a fuss.

Its SO important to check and top up your engine oil regardless of the vehicle - I cant stress the importance of this enough, especially for small air and oil-cooled engines like ours. I do it before almost every ride - sit on the bike, make it level and poke the dipstick in. The level should be at the top marker. any less and I pour a little more oil in, takes less than a minute. Make it a habit and the bike will run happily for years. All the best and good luck with your case...

mine 6th gear worn! any suggestion? thank you.

6th gear changing means opening the lower part of the engine which mean overhaul. What do you mean by worn off? Is it a hauling noise when acceleration only or deceleration also? If you can live with the noise then its ok, not worth changing the gear unless you want to overhaul the engine. Will cost atleast 400-500$ I guess.

Bro when u check ur engine oil before every ride, do you start the bike and let the engine run for a few minutes first? Or u check on a cold engine?

According to the manual it is hold the bike upright(which means you need to sit on the bike) Start the engine and idle for a min or 2. Switch of engine. unscrew the cap and clean it with a clean cloth and dip it back and DO NOT Screw in. Remove it and if the oil level is b/w the min and max mark(the XXXX mark) you should be fine.

yeah you're supposed to let the oil circulate by running the engine for a minute or so before checking, but usually i just dip it in cold. it shows a slightly higher reading when the engine is dead cold, or very hot. I just use agaration and estimate accordingly.
