if it's the plug it could be because it's not sparking well already

What's the symptoms of magnetic coil spoil? Cannot start but runs well when started?

Ahber, jitao is cannot start lol. Can here the starter ticking only, open throttle when starting also cannot. He said might be caused by rain or something like that

Take out your spark plug wire and you can see its not sparking despite being cranked.

magnetic coil is the charging coil you mean? Inside got the spark induction coil also. The price range ** fit. The magnetic coil for charging fail can push start but can run still. If the ignition timing coil die, which is rare then confirmed cannot run. I think can be cheaper.

Cheapest can get is $180. Chiong parts which could also work. But already original fail once in 10 years. So I stick to the more reliable option.

Cheapest 180 is chiong or original one? 220 one was original. Chiong one see before the way the wire and coil built cannot tahan the heat and oil in the engine case.

So today I forgot to turn off the ignition after parking on a slope, leaving the bike in first gear with the engine kill switch in OFF.

10 hours later I returned and my battery was dead. Managed to push start it.

Is it advisable to change my battery? I bought this bike a year ago, don't know when the battery was last changed.

How long do I have to ride to charge the battery up again? Will the battery's life be affected?

Posted

For peace of mind you can go ahead with a change. Since most batteries last a good 2 to 3 years. Or you can just keep riding until you face problems.

-like what matthias said, for peace of mind just change battery.

-engine kill switch off doesnt mean batt will run out. electrically it only disable the spark coil only.

-as for batt replacement, if you really want to double confirm, check if your rectifier is charging first.

-normally rectifier die already batt die together cos not charging properly.

-if batt charging headlamp will become brigher when rev or voltage will rise.

speaking of overhaul,

if i want to do a full overhaul what are the things that need to be changed? like i totally want a "new" engine

Replacement of Engine Block

Piston Ring

still got what arh?

if really "full" overhaul how much would it estimate to be?

anyone has overhaul before appreciate your inputs!

Overhaul got top and bottom. Price range 400 and 600 sgd respectively. For top end Cylinder usually is not changed, usually they rebore or at best resleeved. Piston and piston ring replacement most likely if not they will clean. Usually they will service the connecting rod cam chain area if needed. Some places don't include cam chain tensioner.

For bottom end, never do before but more expensive. More towards the gearbox area.

This is something I have been wondering too. Is it really so,ex to just change the piston and cylinder? It's better than reboring.

It's not the component cost but the labor cost leh. Disassembly and reassembly for top and bottom end need abit of time one. Anyway for some components like piston and piston rings some shop include as part of the price so not so bad actually.

,I mean if component cost is not ex, they should just change the cylinder n piston. Reboring n resleeving like more tedious than just assembling n we get new parts.

I asked a shop before how much was the cylinder n was told very expensive. I didn't do an overhaul because I could still use my bike but if the price is not high for a new cylinder, I would change them for new ones. I mean seriously, re grind valve? Should just replace if possible.

Been to 3 mechs so far and they all say my engine sooner or later need overhaul, including uncle chong.

But strange all 3 quote me different price leh

700-900

600-800

900-1200

Different price dono will do what I also dono, don't want wait they dismantle liao then tell me the most expensive price. That's why want to overhaul also feel so skeptical, what they going to change I also dono, or will they just "pretend" to have changed but in the end use back old parts/scrapped bike parts. Personally I like to have original parts uh..

It really dependant on mechanic modus operandi. In any case, new cylinder will be too expensive to include in the price. Piston not so.

Valve grinding? Never heard of that.. Sounds like too much effort.. It should be replaceable what. This engine still in production leh.
