like i mentioned its up to individual...all the parts are still readily available in singapore...some parts can even be upgraded to fit into version s e.g: spec 3 taillight+tailboard or even the speedometer.....the decision is urs bro...u might think old bike is more prone to cause problem but it all depends on how u maintain it...

thanx for the advice bro...reali appreciate it alot..

hi, can i check with u all about ur verS FC? i saw that verS can hit 30km/l frm this chart, not sure if it's true though

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/102319-Discussion-Various-Fuel-Consumption-on-various-bikes/page7

I have been monitoring my FC since i got the bike and it seems to be at around 19km/l even though i washed the k&n filter... may i kno what else i need to do?

Bro, the way you ride affects your fuel consumption. Also, if you're using aftermarket exhaust systems, it may also affect your FC. Your sprocket size also may affect your FC. So, I think you better check them out. Maybe there are more factors. Let's wait for other fellow bros to comment. My 2 cents worth

I am getting between 20-22km/l on mine. So seems to be around the same ball park?

im running all stock and i ride pretty gently so guess its internal problem, called ah fook and he told me that there is this rubber thingy in our machine and it might have harden due to the old age of the bike... replacing it cost $60 each, total 4... if that still doesnt help than its the carburetor, $600 woo~

btw simon ur bike has windshield + 2 h&b side pannier and a h&b top box, guess its pretty taxing on ur bike power hence the FC bah

Plus heavy front and rear crash bars. I'd get a second opinion on the pricing of the items you listed if I were you.

One rubber thingy is 60 plus? Wow. That doesn't include the pins and jets. Can easily spend 600 on carbs.

19km/l is good. Ride too slow ur FC drops ride too fast FC also drops best is cruise at highway. My Ver S highway get abt 21-22km/l stop and go riding about 17km/l

most of the time i would be cruising on highway 80-100 on meter... sometimes 120 for a short while when hand itchy =x but nvr gone above that... guess its not worth it to change carb of wad bah, since its an old bike and comforting to know u guy's FC is around the same as me

Yeah. I'd say don't touch the carbs unless you feel you have issues like uneven throttling or idling and stuff like that. But that is just my layman opinion :-p

in my opinion, no hard riding to maintain FC. warm up bike every morning, change gear at 5k rpm, rear spocket size 44 teeth. front back tyre size 110 n 150. with rear box n every sunday pump tyres front back 34 36 psi. my FC 24-25 km/l :) mostly travel express way abit more on normal road on sat. try to reduce uneccesary breaking, more on engine brake will be good. if can change gear at lower rpm might be better.

I am always seen on the left lane hogging the road. :D

hey bro...there is main tank and reserve tank for s4...12 o clock is the main tank...when it runs out 15 litres of your petrol....you still have the 6 o clock reserve tank of 3 litres of petrol to hit to the nearest petrol station...putting at 3 o clock which is shut off all petrol links and haha no petrol will be feeding your bike then....ride safe....cheers...

wah bro ur fc v gd leh....i hitting ard 22-23km/l region with pillion most of the time...when my father rides most of the time he hits 24 - 25km/l region and he rides alone....so i somehow conclude weight does play a part...LOL...maintaining the bike will also play a part in FC...

Now need to wait for garmen to give angpow to do up my old and complicated bike.

BTW err AhPek or anyone, need ur advice, my whole trottle assbly(with the switches) seems to be missing the internal screw for mounting to the handlebar. My bike shop says need to change whole assmbly.. True or not? Coz if need to only get that screw I can save sia I think.:p

Now I temporary put latex tape to secure the whole thing but still can move around one..o_O

There are 2 scews sercuring the unit assembly...if they are not there..can get from bike shop or take a sample and get at Peh Huat at near Lim Ah Boy area. If the 2 screws are there and still turn..that mean the plastic stud of the switch assembly that supposed to "key" into a hole (to stop it moving)on the handle bar is broken liao. No need to change lah (not cheap..at least $85..MIC somemore)..cut 2 thin rubber strip and clamp it between the top and bottom half.
