Why do poeple wear jacket the other way round

I notice people especially uncles often wear jacket the other way round, is there any reason why?

Why some riders reverse wear their jackets? This seems to be an all-time hidden mystery to the singapore riding scene.

 

I think this is quite an innovative way to solve several problems by our uncles during the earlier days:

1. Reverse the jacket and the jacket back acts as a wind deflector.

Think bike with no wind shield, ah pek who coughing problem

 

2. The long sleeve and the jacket back acts as a heat shield from the blazing afternoon sun.

 

3. Easy on-and-off.

Same goes for the mystery of why there are so many ah peks riding with their knees pointing outwards instead of hugging the tank.

no need to zip and yet wun be too cold from the wind..

 

if wearing the jacket the normal way, you dun zip up, it's gonna flap all over once you start moving.. and it ain't fun getting hit by it..

something to do with aero dynamics n ease of use.

 

if u wear the jacket the normal way, air will enter from ur chin, flood the whole body n might unzip the jacket (if u dont zip all the way up).

thanks for the replies, the reason i ask is because my group in university might want to do a project to allow ppl to wear jackets the normal way. I personally wear it normally and dun find the problems that you guys mentioned, thats why i am curious why ppl wear it like tt. I tried wearing the other way reverse way before but the unzip ends keep flapping at the back and i was too distracted by it.

2. e pillon can also 'hide' herself(very good in rainy daze)

i do that on a daily basis. The jacket is worn to shield me from the exhaust fume/dust on the road. Wearing the jacket zipped up in Sunny Singapore weather is a killer.

try travelling on the expressway wearing the jacket the correct way and without zipping. hurts like a b**** to get hit by the flapping zips. and try wearing the jacket zipped up on a sunny day, the sweat on the back is damn gross

Coz by wearing it the other way, u need not zip up your jacket to cover your neck and its easy to slip on and off.

Just some simple common sense answer, its to cover up their exposed arms from the sun @ the same time not getting sweaty by wearing the jacket fully during the ride in this kind of sunny weather.
