hi guys, just want to share my experience over at chiap lee just now.. i wanted to buy a helmet from there. i brought my money.. the helmet is selling for $580. but everyone in the forums said they bought at $550. and i dont mind the $30 defference, seriously. because i really wanted to have a arai ram 3 since the day i passed my bike. but both the salesperson was really 'bo chap'. no one attend to me at first. until i ask the price of the helmet. the spectacle guy and 1 old guy was in charge of the shop.. the uncle was literally shouting at me, 'what you want'. and the specky guy dont even bother to get up from his seat in front of his computer.

i just get out of his shop and just ride away. sorry, this is not to ruin the shop's reputation..i heard some of the guys in this forum saying that chiap lee gives exellent service and stuffs. but to me, they really dont care about their customers unless they ride those expensive bikes and wears expensive gears..

just my 2cents opinion.

do consider the TX motard or lower range full face if you had another $100 to spare..

the price of RAM3 now is seriously too expensive.. I rather pay abit more to get a nice fullface..

TX should be selling at $680.

their service is good though. allow me test try, ask the boss how to operate the ventilation all these.

tried to bargain further but the boss rejected me politely and in a jokingly manner too.

What does PSB safety tests consist of?

TUV SUD PSB measure a motorcycle helmet’s ability to absorb or dissipate impact forces from reaching the rider's head.

Elements of a motorcycle helmet that are tested:

•protective padding material : expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam liner which resembles styrofoam

•motorcycle shell structural integrity

•motorcycle helmet visor

•the effectiveness of the retention system that keeps the helmet on the head

A Word of Caution

There are some riders who asked: "Are motorcycle helmets sold in Singapore safe?" It really depends how you define the word 'safe'.

None of the safety standards can precisely replicate the threats that a motorcyclist might face in the event of an accident.

What official safety standards can do is to minimize risks to the rider by conducting impact tests. However no motorcycle helmet can guarantee complete safety and protect the rider from possible impacts and accidents.

A motorcycle helmet meeting PSB, DOT, ECE, JIS, AS, Snell or whatever safety standard should offer the same level of protection, whether it costs you $100.00 or $1,000.00.

The Choice Is Yours

Some of the reputable motorcycle helmet brands like ARAI meet USA Snell M 2005, Europe CE 22-05 which are recognised as international standards and endorsed by the racing governing commission. However some of the models are not PSB approved.

Price is not an indication of safety, a reputable brand helmet that cost $800 does not mean it is much more safer than a cheap $40 motorcycle helmet.

Whether extensive research and development in producing superior helmets make them safer remains unproven.

True Safety depend on the rider so please ride safely. Don't take your chances with the authorities, wear a PSB approved motorcycle helmet.

Life is like a shooting star, it don't matter who you are,

If you only run for cover, it's just a waste of time.. :thumb:

PSB is bullshit.

i have seen half-cap helmets with PSB stickers, while reputable brands like arai/shoei aren't approved by PSB but with DOT/Snell approval.

PSB approved half cap helmet, tested and approved to hold your grey matter securely without spillage in case of accident?

i rest my case on PSB rulings. utter bull-crap..

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....
