kakaka...rust coloured glasses indeed. no lah...don't wear any glasses is best.

well...for some perspective...this particular one had a pillion...was going F.A.S.T...and i'm sure it was impossible for the uncle who was in front of him on the other side move away at the time he was being that way.

anyway...last words from me about this. folks can choose how they wanna ride...even if they wanna break the speed limit while splitting. some people choose to call it skill...and its fine with me if they want to remain misinformed. for the rest of us...no need to feel intimidated. just move over when there is space...safely and without rush...and let idiots like this continue and risk their lives. i just pray that their pillions will be smart enough not to sit on their bikes the next time round...if there is a next time round.

Firstly, i can't agreed with you all more. But at least let them have the time to seek a place to move to full lane, safe.

I can't "tahan" ppl come close to my back, and i've seem him waiting for a chance to move over for him to pass while he keep horning, flashing.

There is these busa, "i know the pickup is very power" coming from far closing to me, i've seem him and tried to make way for him, but @#$%^ revving his stuip pipe which is so loud behind me. First time i "tahan" looking for the chance for me to move safety to lane 2. @#$%# revving his stuip pipe again, this time even worst. My wire went loose liao, shock circuit. Finally a space for me to move so i move and let him go first, then fellow behind him.

He pick up, i go close to him from behind see how fast he goes. Once he's spliting speed go below 80, i let him taste his own medicine, listen to how my two stroke engine roar, he tried to break away, i'll still follow close, don't look down on my two stroke engine, you busa so how? this type of tacffic condition see how fast you can go. Till a point he almost bend into two car with his girlfriend (pillion) behind him, seeing this i slow down and let him off, shock circuit back to normal.

When lane spliting, if the bike infront of me is slow, normally i'll give him some time to seek for a safe gab to move and i make sure they are safe then i pass. I'll still sign thank you to them. Why? They make an effort to do it, just a bit of time needed.

HAHAAA!

relax man, its all [art of the fun of riding two wheels, don't worry (:

Which begs the question.... Do we as riders of small bikes, wear "rust coloured glasses" (see in a negative light) when we see big bikes shooting off quickly???

Peace.

It very simple, whether big bike or small bike, sport bike or race bike. Coming to heavy tacffic and doing lane spliting, it all about saftey. Just be patient a bit and let ppl in front of you have a bit of time to react, safey.

the most dulanz is uncles or those guys who lanesplit so slowly until i have to take aggressive techniques to overtake them.. :dot:

relac la, no need aggressive la. :cheeky: relac relac also can overtake wan.

actually, he wasn't behind me...he was on the other split lane...still...i don't see a need for anyone going at those speeds...especially with a pillion and without any gear other than a helmet.

safety is subjective, i guess.

though it worked, and i hope u imprinted a lesson deep into his skull, we do realise the pillion is innocent?

kudos for letting him off (留条活路 - let ppl have a walking path), sometimes ppl just forget la, throttle too much power ald.

Yup, I always do that. They can think what they want. I always stick to my +20 to 30km/h rule when lane-splitting. Not more than that.

Very important. Don't be intimidated.

Yes i couldn't agree with you more... But i can't help but admire the TP riders on the diversion 900 lane splitting through peak hour traffic throwing the bike left and right with the ease as if they were riding a bicycle! :thumb:

Hahaaa...

Well, put it this way. Anyone dare to band at them? Or anyone dare to block their way? Does they really get fine (I don't know)? But if we do it that way..... think men.. think hard.... o_O

actually lane splitting is about avoiding obstacles, namely the mirrors on the cagers..

it's like slalom in driving school.. go on the flow with the bike and be together as 1..

that is different.. when cars see uncle sam in their mirrors, they will give way or drive slightly to the edge of the lane for them to pass..

but for us, u think they care?

buy a big white bike with huge fairings. then buy a white helmet. i'm sure cars will give way to you too. haha. cuz i also kena snook by some fella riding one. see big white fairing and white helmet, automatically guai guai relak jack. then see the fella speed past. no blue/blue or blue/red. felt so cheated.

anyway, it's fun when a TP diversion or LTA bike comes along splitting. just tuck in behind him. sure got very clear lane to travel through. followed one TP down AYE jam towards harbourfront, can just relak. TP are your friends!

Smile! Tomorrow will be worse.

Your bike too sporty to pass off as a TP bike :p

Let's put it this way... As long as we're on 2 wheels, we'll be bullied by the 4 wheels and more!

Yes,turely agreed, the pillion is innocent. But If the rider don't care about his/her safey, which he/her put their life into the rider hand, what else can we say. They don't concern about their own life is ok, other? His girl friend behind? Maybe this is how they express their "LOVE". Remember, there's a part in a movie "You jump, i jump", in these case "I die, you must die too".

If i'm not wrong most bike Acc.... the rider with pillion; the pillion normally "ki jia" first. So be responsible, as ppl put their life in your hand. And for those pillion make sure your life is in a safe rider soul.

Anyway, for me the responsiblity is too great that is why for a long time i never pillion any ppl liao. "You wanna go there, sorry i'm riding. You mind take a cab there or public transport? i'll pay for it. Thanks." I know sometime i'll become screw without nut.:cheeky:

I'm sure you all experience this many times before but gotta rant out.

Riding to work this morning from Pasir Ris toward the Bartley Viaduct have to go through a road long long one with a few traffic lights. Always confirm jam.

So have to lane split half of the time. Taxi uncle I think saw me and purposely start driving leftwards until driving on the blardy white dotted line. HRMP. Red light ... I kenna stuck behind far far cuz I cannot squeeze thru.

You have a point there. When I was a young Yamaha Hell Rider ™ I get all the usual nonsense like tailgating, taxis blocking your lane splitting (as aforesaid) if not outright road raging.

Now with a big fat Phantom everyone seems to keep a distance; it's a different sort of irritation altogether where people just refuse to overtake me and stare at either the hair coming down below the helmet, or the chrome :p I have to tap the brakes to signal them to get ahead.

If I see people following behind me for some time I tend to move aside and wave them ahead, taxis especially. They -do- return the favour.

Size does matter - I haven't had anyone cut into my lane in front of me without at least some 'consent' from me. When people see a cruiser (even little one) with panniers they kind of avoid automatically.

It helps that the Phantom is 'uniquely Singapore' and is good for public motorcycling safety image .....

Not that Phantoms can't race lol.

simon.... that's what i do every morning at lornie road... PIE.... have to horn those half awake drivers while lane splitting.... Today i went to wake my friend up at eunos there.... then we took PIE.... i also lead bike... horn all the other people, to let them know, "Jagar i'm coming thru!".... But of cos not horn other bikes out of the way la....

talking about lane splitting skills, recently i was riding on a full lane in the heavy 8am peak-hour traffic on PIE. Suddenly i heard loud exhaust booms, and a gigantic Harley appeared. (think its a road king) Despite its super wide handlebars, the rider is full of confidence in lane splitting.

Whenever the gap appears tight for him, he will give his throttle a quick twist, with the exhaust booming loudly. Upon hearing this, cars on both sides and in front of him automatically opens a pathway for him. He is, after all, riding on the King of the Road.

Can't imagine riding with those handlebars. I'll die trying to steer the bike. And the response of the bike will be terribly slow in the case of a potential accident. That being said, I saw this 2 irritating riders along Sunset Way about 2 months back, riding HD's. I don't know which models they were cause I'm not really into HD, but they were cutting in and out of traffic on a 3 lane road, even to lane 3.5. Very very annoying, they were riding about 80km/h (?) while everyone was crawling about 40-50km/h. I mean, it's not so bad on the expressway, I do it myself, but when everyone was squeezing during peak hours and they were changing lanes WITHOUT signalling, that's a bit too much.

uncles on phantoms can race lor. ahaha. few months back when i havent become a crash dummy, this uncle phantom actually cant stand me overtaking him on PIE and kept on overtaking me when i already overtook him. i think i mentioned here before.. he even lane splitted at the bends, something i don't dare to do even till now.

Harley riders never fail to make me jump up on my bike, literally. i really wobbled after moving off from traffic light, then this harley with its loud exhaust suddenly rode past, got me off guard and i wobbled. wahlaaaooo... how come they dont get summoned for loud exhaust? pardon me for my lack of knowledge about these.

---

talking about lane-splitting, yesterday there was this guy (or uncle, not sure) on a i dont know what bike. looks like phantom, with rear box and two side boxes. on keppel road heading towards ECP. i was already rushing for time, no cash card (it was close to 6pm), and this fella CHOSE TO STICK ONTO THE CENTER OF THE TWO LANES even though he wasn't lane splitting. even if traffic wasn't moving, he's still on center of two lanes. wahh, i look at him, saw his face in the mirror, he go make stuck up face. or maybe his face already like that. purposely wanna block my way.

if that bugger had given way, i would have saved on a good several minutes and avoid getting the $11 letter.

likewise, i won't pressure uncles who are lane splitting slowly. dont want to let them panic for nothing, then wobble cause trying too hard to give way to me.
