Encountered same scenario, but is with a bus.... :(

Green left arrow on, but I am going straight how to turn?

Cannot be I go one big round so that the driver behind can move off a few seconds earlier right?

But on a lighter note, yesterday got a P-Plate rider on a pulsar in NIE trying to come into the carpark, but keep getting stuck on hump at the top of the slope. (engine keep stalling)

Walked over to help him, then saw he hardly throttle when going upslope over the hump..... with a pillion behind!

Later the pillion got off and the pillion rode the bike into the bike lot!

Turns out it's the rider's first time on the bike, just bought over only!

Lol @ silent - NIE is a good place to test new bikes :D

I had that scenario in riding school when I didn't know how to use half clutch to launch upslope ended up stalled near the top of the hill. I then used muscle power to run the bike uphill!! The onlookers commented "got engine for what?" and I replied "your bike no power lah"

lmao.

if its bus, of course cannot la. He so big. No matter where you moved, the bus doesnt have enough turning angle too.

actually this type of situation, best is to avoid it if its the regular junctions u pass. I go to the extent of moving in front of the car in the adjacent lane that may not turn. Once in a while i still get caught off guard and hold up others in turning lane when green left arrow comes on. Guess its seldom happens or I lucky, usually no one disturbs me. In any case, never do anything wrong also.

Old saying goes, "there are all kinds of people on the road." We keep cool and stay safe.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

Met a bad one today. Hais. Sucks to be P plate.

I was travelling to chinatown , think somewhere at havelock road, met one screwed up taxi driver.

I was going to turn left after the current junction, so I decided to keep at left lane first. Then I stopped at a traffic light, one a lane that indicates turn left AND straight ahead.

Then the left arrow flashed out, the main light still red. But my intent is to go straight, and I didnt on any signal light incorrectly.

Then this *insert long list of vulgarities* taxi uncle horn me when the arrow came out. I heck care him, since I'm not going to turn left at all. I tried drifting myself more towards the right, so those impatient idiot drivers can try to squeeze pass if they dare.

Then this taxi uncle open his window, shout at me "OI! GREEN ARROW LEH~! YOU CAN GO! GO! DONT BLUR LEH~!"

The tone of his voice is kinda like .. thinking I'm some ****ing noob, cuz I am P plate, and think I don't know I can left turn at the moment (which I'm intending to go straight) His tone is pretty sacastic and yaya.

Tell you man.. I'm so *insert vulgarities again* pissed and I just gave him some nice language and some fingers to go along.

Seriously, damn all these idiot drivers. I'm in no wrong to be in that lane technically speaking. Still try to mock me. Damn pissed. Too bad I was too hot headed to take note of his number plate .. But thinking of it, I still damn dulan .

I'm not going to be a courteous rider anymore man .. doesnt bring me anywhere, only get bullied and mocked at.

chill man~

=) at the end of the day don't let others ignorance affect the mood and joy of your ride.

We live in Singapore, majority is rushing, see green arrow means throttle open and chiong, relax..

As long as you and I both reach our destination in safety, that's another day well lived =)

Today:

Typical commute to work, slightly damp road conditions.

Would be typical if not for the fact I did some DIY work and suddenly I found another hidden horsepower to play with. But nah, I'm quite content with sticking to 80kph and lane 2-4. I like my long distance commuting costs to be 50 cents of petrol, no more :D

I 'escorted' some slower car drivers on the highway and at the end of it I notice there were a fair number of vehicles that were waiting for me to overtake and change lanes in front of them when it came to highway exits and filter lanes. They had right of way, they had definitely much more horsepower but no, they kept the lane ahead wide open.

On the other hand, those slower/non-rushing vehicles really benefit from me following because other motorists think twice about cutting into the path of an 'escorted' vehicle.

Being the only non-lanesplitting motorcycle on the road does have an impact.

Commuting home in the evening - I finally got clear skies yesterday evening and made use of it by doing a @nabil15 style "Sunset Interception".

[video=youtube;NNpfn0-JWi4]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNpfn0-JWi4

All I can say is - reading SBF since March until now has given me a better and more efficient riding style :3 Of course there are more things to pick up yet. Learning never stops.

For the lane changes displayed therein - note the perspective doesn't allow you to see that I'm wearing a reflective vest, use hand signals to make sure people beside and behind me know what I'm up to, one eye glued to the mirrors, etc.

1. Why does your video skips whenever the traffic goes stationary? Why doesnt the video run in sequence and why is it edited?

2. All i see its SMOOTH moving traffic video-ing.

3. For sure i have not seen any riders non splitting yet.

4. At 24S and 39S, the vehicles had not fully change their lanes and you throttle up. Isnt it dangerous? what if the car or the van decided to turn back? Isnt that lanespliting? since you are sharing the same lane with them. If not can you define your perspective of lane splitting to me?

5. If this is your way to prove and advocate that riders dont lane split and you do not even do for a single time. You need to do better.

6. If not do avoid putting videos up with misleading titles and mislead all the inexperienced riders about the your own concept of 'NO LANESPLITING' on Singapore road

LOL yesterday was so sunny so I put the cam on. Today really like autumn in temperate climates. Grey and boring!

It was questionable for me to join in the rush hour crowd at the usual timing but it didn't actually rain after work so for once I get to head home before the dispatch riders! However there was a big slowdown up the SLE (3 lanes insufficient for that uphill stretch towards Woodlands) so I rode at a grand speed of 20kph! In front and back were my usual friends the Sonata taxi and lorry with human cargo.

They made sure not to jam brakes in front of me, and the one behind knew to keep a safe following distance.

Eventually some other bikers decided they had enough lanesplitting through 10km of jams and joined me for a while until things cleared up to normal speeds, and I was quite amused to see a P plate Phantom ride slowly in Lane 3 and was much faster than my 20kph cos he picked the correct lane! Impressed with that guy's judgment :D

Good thing is we sort of teamed up side by side when we could so there is a mobile clear space for bikes to safely move past.

Just now while riding, saw the aftermath of an accident (fatal, got white cloth) so poor thing.... on Mandai just outside the cremantorium... :sian:

There was a girl crying, most likely the girlfriend, or..... could be the driver of the car in front, not sure which. What a way to start the day.... :(

Ride safe guys....

Hmmm... what a sight... ( T-T) recently weather rather bad... do take precaution and ride with extra extra care. Importantly, DRESS FOR THE CRASH!

While not riding, took public transport, along with my mother towards china town... to my surprise, people automatically gave way and offer seat to my mum. I'm very touched and would like to thanks who ever you are! :) Apart from that, right of way was given to pregnant lady as well. Two thumbs up!

I ponder if driving school impose rules that new 2B rider should get a light armored jacket during enrollment (*subsequent 2A/2 riders to wear armored jacket for training) would it be a head start for newbies to gear up for the unforeseen?

*Any views from experienced riders?

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

Back in my riding school days, the instructors at BBDC made it mandatory for us to turn up in gloves and jackets. If you didn't then you have the option of having a well-loved school glove or ... raincoat? I don't ever think anyone forgot their jacket because we were trained to do the circuit 'obstacle courses' at a pretty brisk pace and as learner riders, we had the occasional spill as riders lost control or got disoriented during the later night lessons. My batch more or less automatically got the message after I, one of the slower learners in the early stages, demonstrated various techniques to break fall during a low speed motorcycle crash :p

Thanks to the mandatory safety gear no one was hurt, except the bikes. Which no one cared about lol!

Later on I met up with some former classmates to do defensive riding course together and a few of us had high speed crashes during the speed handling session. It was more or less trying to do MotoGP using CG125s and not all of us had heard about Keith Code's advanced riding theory yet :p

Went up a kerb at 70kph, flew like Superman into grass patch and no injuries.

So that's the beginning of "dress for the fall, not for the ride" to you!

Unfortunately when I hit the streets my discipline dropped due to the "standard practises" we all love and hate. Until it came to meeting up with my favourite riding kakis and I'm well at home gearing up, if not yet with proper riding armour, then at least with industrial gloves/boots or winter jackets!

I have seen friends have relatively minor spills in sandals and shorts and the results speak for themselves. It is of no fault of their own that they were not as aware about personal protection - I respect that they have had learnt from the "School of Hard Knocks" and eventually might find their way on the forums to tell the rest of us how to get in gear :D

did anyone experience this frequently?

usually when im the first at the traffic light at the most left lane, once the light turns green, naturally i will move off first. then once i reach the opposite traffic lights, the cars at filter lane will die die also want to turn out.

and just now a taxi die die also want to turn out, i almost got hit sia, i swerve to other lane already to avoid him, end up he also lane change, i quickly throttle away, luckily his car missed me by a small distance. sighh.

If it's due to the attachment on the airbox failing then I have a spare airbox cover you can have for free.
