today while riding!

was tagging behind a taxi in a hot afternoon that's driving at 30kph on a 1 lane small road, had a rather hard time keeping below 30kph as the monster im on is hotter than beyonce so i kept inching closer to the cab and guess what happen next!

*half second hazard light on, next half immediate stop, all within one good second.*

had to squeezzzzzee the lever like its crazy. saw from the rear screen of the cab with driver waving his hand, went past him and he gave me a apologetic wave, all the urge to swear and confront disappears. i gave him a dismissal wave and moved on!

sometimes i dunno whats the correct method to wave back my thanks or appreciation to other drivers. or when someone wave their apology to me, i felt like waving back to say "its ok", but i scared end up my wave looks like an angry gesture.

any expert in hand gestures? =D

I think its really simple. 1 middle finger only means :gun:

5 fingers with palms facing the fella means :sorry:

5 fingers with palms facing the fella also means

And there's always 5 fingers with palms smacking your head. Meaning :slapforehead:

Lastly, there's the whole hand stroking chin when u are watching other people do the first two gestures :popcorn:

See! Its not so hard right?

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

did anyone experience this frequently?

usually when im the first at the traffic light at the most left lane, once the light turns green, naturally i will move off first. then once i reach the opposite traffic lights, the cars at filter lane will die die also want to turn out.

and just now a taxi die die also want to turn out, i almost got hit sia, i swerve to other lane already to avoid him, end up he also lane change, i quickly throttle away, luckily his car missed me by a small distance. sighh.

:giddy:

so if we hit them, are they gonna say "why you speed"? o_O

At times I try to slow down... neber know which of them gonna do that siau move.

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

Today while riding home, a S4 rider got a puncture, so I help him plug the hole with a worm.

Too bad my rubber cement already dry, so the seal will not be a perfect or lasting one, but at least should be able to get him home.

Then he ask how he can repay me, I told him that if he see someone on the road who needs help, help him.

ROFL. Same question, and same thing I said to a Ducati Monster owner who left his key in the ignition, and I hid it for him in the frame and left him my number on the bike to find out where I hid it.

PREPARING TO RIDE

1. Wear the right gear.

2. Become familiar with the motorcycle.

3. Check the motorcycle equipment.

4. Be a responsible rider.

KNOW YOURMOTORCYCLE

• Read the owner’s manual first.

•Start with the right motorcycle foryou.

•Be familiar with the motorcyclecontrols.

•Check the motorcycle beforeevery ride.

•Keep it in safe riding conditionbetween rides.

•Avoid add-ons and modificationsthat make your motorcycleharder to handle.

RIDE WITHIN YOUR ABILITIES

- “Following too closely” could be a factor in crashes involving motorcyclists.

- Speeding up to lose someone following too closely only ends up with someone tailgating you at a higher speed.

- Good experienced riders remain aware of what is going on around them.

- The best way to help others see your motorcycle is to keep the headlight on — at all times

GROUP RIDING

- Do it in a way that promotes safety and doesn’t interfere with the flow of traffic.

- Place inexperienced riders just behind the leader. That way the more experienced riders can watch them from the back.

- Plan frequent stops on long rides.

- Maintain close ranks but at the same time keep a safe distance to allow each rider in the group time and space to react to hazards.

- Never ride directly alongside another rider. There is no place to go if you haveto avoid a car or something on theroad. To talk, wait until you are both stopped.

- Staggered Formation — This is the best way to keep ranks close yet maintain an adequate space.

Today:

@Silent Hunter had a successful tyre repair incident, mine was half successful only!

- On the BKE at 9am I saw a J-plate Modenas Kriss limping on the shoulder. The traffic was less than normal due to holiday season so I was able to stop and lend a hand with the spare can of tyre repair "goo" I always carry.

- Unfortunately it was a tube-tyre older cub and the valve of the rear tyre tube was damaged. Since I don't carry spare tubes nor have the time/expertise for tube repair I pumped in the goo anyway to see if at least some of the stuff would get in. I did advise the man to try and upgrade to Racing Boy tubeless rim if he can (I had my fair share of tube-tyred issues back in my cub days)

- The tyre was partially reinflated hopefully enough for him to get to a nearby mototiam for proper repair. Unfortunately I don't know of any workshops within limping range but his friend knew of a shop in Bt. Timah...

all road users beware... of this reckless Nissan Skyline GTR R35. grey colour SJ _ 778 Y. forgot the 3rd letter. Subject was seen weaving between 1430-1430hrs between lane 1 and 3 recklessly, overtaking and tailgating others blatantly along hougang ave 3 towards the junction of eunos link and airport road...

i stayed far far away from the alleged subject but was really shaking my head as it treated the traffic and other road users with total disregard and disrespect...

there is no need for a local 2 fast 2 furious on our streets...

Was riding towards Sun Plaza from Admiralty side. This car just beside me on my left did not check his blind spot and tried to cut my lane. I blasted my horn thrice. I guessed he must be shocked by the high decibels...

saw a malay couple riding an old cub along orchard road in the heavy 8pm or so traffic.

girl was riding in a green tube top, lane-splitting using her legs, basically paddling almost all the way from the paragon traffic light to 313@somerset, can change lane some more, by paddling also.

i lost sight of them for awhile but when the lights turned green at 313@somerset, i saw the bike zoom out, the guy (pillion) took over as the rider and girl became pillion! what a fast switch!

phew! what a relief to see the guy take over!

i think girls can dress as skimpy or sexy as they want but at least try and protect your beautiful skin by putting on a jacket while riding.

when you reach your destination, you can take off all your clothes if you want.

i feel worried looking at all that skin exposed to the tarmac and your unsteadiness weaving thru heavy traffic on your feet. haiz.

See! Its not so hard right?

lol @Pplater - that's quite fun to visualise.

In the US they have a standard "motorcycle wave" to exchange with other riders. In Singapore no need, just see whose engine bigger and that's how to decide whom to go in front first. LOL......

Until a J-plate cuts in front of the queue at the traffic light, stopping right smack in front of your friday night Hayabusa convoy. How? :D
