no need.. but you must not be xia lan.. for eg: walk in in 386 way.. never ask qns in a polite manner..

the boss a bit particular abt first impression.. if you are humble and willing to learn, he will be glad to drop you a tip or two when you ask him..

but no % will be given if you buy small small items.. like a bottle of paint..

% will be given for most items except for those already discounted..

Happy modelling.. Keep the spirit alive..

for bike, its very difficult to do.. coz you dun have any space to hide the batt.. and leds are also to big.. unless you use hp ones..

putting lights on cars is possible.. but must buy low voltage led.. also must test whether the led, when lighted up will be so warm that it will melt your model plastic..

modelling must learn from experiences.. no pro-builter begins as a pro..

 er guys...got a question in need of advice......when 2 parts are joined together there is this joint line.....how to remove that joint line? cos if sprayed light colour paint over the part ...the joint line is still visible and quite obvious.... :pity:

anyone can guide me on this?

Posted

I got something to ask......

How do you guys make the metallic paints look even when you paint on the models? i always end up getting uneven paint..... either it ends up too diluted or its too thick to paint it easily.....

How do you guys solve the problem?

Dry fit the two parts to ensure that it slots in nicely.

Apply a liberal amount of liquid cement on the 'seam', give a slight squeeze until a bead of molten styrene appears along the seam. When the bead is thorough dry, scrap it off with the flat part of your No.11 blade.

There should be no seam after that. if the gap is wide or if the seam ('joint line') still shows then you'll have to apply filler putty. sand and steel wool the joint when the putty is dry.

use tamiya basic putty to mend the gaps.. then you gotta sand it..

its more than just sticking parts together.. spraying the body and fixing it up..

i am still learning too..

gd luck dudee~ i am trying hard as well....think my R1 is gng to be destroyed by my very own hands kakkaka

how long should the putty take to dry? and will the colour turn different when its dry??

Guys..i went through a few foreign websites on model making for bikes....and i see them posting that they used 'Modeller's" hose instead of the black rubber hose provided in the modelling kit...........i saw some pics of their work and their hose are transparent with colours (tinted) looks nice on the models and outstanding.....is 'Modeller' a brand or a general term for pple who do modelling? and if anyone knows ....where can i get those 'modeller's' hose?

and the webbies mention something about mesh used to create carbon fibre look on parts of the bike...anyone knows wats that? and where to buy as well as how to use it to create that look?

i suppose you never use airbrush and using acrylic based paints..

if you are hand brushing, you can try using tamiya's enamel paints..

Modellers is a brand name.. the tinted hoses are actually transparent, but the clear colours are airbrushed on..

carbon fibre is a material stronger but lighter than plastics.. all GP bike uses them for their cowlings.. they normally have checkered or weeve pattern.. normally modellers will use decal to create the carbon look instead of sprayin it out..

this pic is an example of the decal..

this is how it looks on a model bike..

acrylic paint is always suppose to be mixed with tamiya thinner before applying to ur model

enamel paint is supposed to be mixed with ENAMEL thinner (not tamiya thinner) before applying to ur model

*note : eg. u paint part of the model piece with acrylic paint and the other

part with enamel paint...and u happen to smurge the enamel paint onto the acrylic paint part....use ENAMEL thinner to clean it off...cos from wat i know...enamel thinner wont affect acrylic paint..but that doesnt meant that u can leave the ENAMEL thinner on the acrylic paint for a long time cos maybe some reaction will take place(not known) .....

enamel paint come in small bottles with BLACK covers...can be found in most hobby shop..ask the sales assistant they will be glad to point out to u the enamel paint and info about them (eg. mixing ratio blah blah blah)
