Thanks Yas, that is correct. I got that helmet from LAB & only use it for riding around my neighbourhood. My daily helmet is a Caberg flipface.

any way.. the helmet on the bike looks like..how to describe it..hell's angel type??..just my silly description...

any reason why use only at ur neighbourhood...wow u must be looking mean in one of those..as the angmo expression..serious shi t look...

hey how much u pay for it??would like to own one too..hope it is approved type.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time:dot:

half cap dude? like maybe 20 bucks to any price they wanna call ;) different materials and all. Half Cap doubt will have any psb. The PSB stix seriously spoils the look for this helmet.

for kiamh, they say harley riders won't get caught with half caps(because they are somewhat 'authorised'). True?

hey..what if i own one which is more than 30 years old..when there is no certifications..will i be bothered by tp if i use it??

LAB stuff price varies all the time, I cannot remember what I paid for it, shoudl be in the $30~$40 region as mine is the "leather" wrapped version. It does not have the PSB sticker.

I usually only use this for neighbourhood riding becase it is really convenient for short rides. They are obviously less safe than open or full coverage helmets.

I do not think TP discriminates bikers because of the bikes they ride. They could summon anyone for any offence at anytime.

I do not know.

No Psb would land you in trouble but if you're uncle enough usually they don't bother about you; in the first place most has never been checked for PSB before  Wait for Kiamh's on the Harley's half cap dude, I don't wear a 1/2 cap & its rumoured so, has to be confirmed ;)

No comment on the uncle thingy, coz that would suggest that TP discriminates against age.

Hi guys,

I"m going to shift my signal lights from a mount on my side rack (unconventional position) to either, the side metal bracket (stock position) or to the rearadjacent to the no. plates.

What is the best way to disconnect and reconnect the electrical wires for the signal light? How do you guys do it?

1. Currently, found under the seat are the signal light wires where the male end of the wire is joined to a female socket. The connection is tight but possible to pry open using a small screwdriver and rejoint by compressing the joint with a spanner. I've to cut through the plastic insulator first but I dont have replacements so I'm reluctant to spoil the current arrangement. Solution is to buy breathing tubes and replace the isulator. TROUBLESOME LAH.

2. Alternatively, I can just cut the wire and rejoint by twisting and black taping for insulation. SIMPLE BUT CRUDE.

One more question on safety issue. Can the driver directly behind you see your signal lights properly, as the rear position is quite low and the car's bumper may be blocking the view?

Thanks guys.

How do i know if the tyres i changed to are soft compound? Is there a way to check online if the tyre is stated as soft compound? I checked up Metzeler website on their LaserTec series which is what is embossed on the tyre and they only say "The newest materials and compound technology applied to a classic tread pattern design for enhanced performance out of your bike

New compound with high Silica developed for outstanding grip both in dry and in wet enhancing riding performance"

Does that mean soft compound? I got the tyres from planet. Front Rear for 150 bucks

Hi guys,

Has anyone applied for International Licence before?

My question is for my 2B license. The staff at AA Singapore told me that this International Licence allows me to drive/ride all classes that my SG licence can in approved countries.

But since my bike licence is only 2B, does the

Thanks!

When I rented a Harley in US, they asked for proof that I am licensed to handle a large capacity, heavy motorcycle. I just showed them my Singapore Class 2 license & that was sufficient.

I do have the international driving permit issued by AA, but have not found it necessary in the US. My Singapore license has been sufficient for me to rent cars/bike & buy alcohol :p

Mine were changed at planet for the same price. I think 'soft compound' or 'hard compound' doesn't really mean anything, just a way to differentiate IRC tires. Kind of like Big Mac and McChicken burger...

'Soft compounds' are usually referred to the softer IRC tyres, as stock ones are of harder rubber material and dangerous for use. Metzeller's are generally good, and though i know they definitely arent as hard as the stock IRCs, by the old inspection of nail-pressing, they arent as soft as IRC soft-compounds.

Yes in US they do recognise Singapore Driving Licence, it's because the Singapore Driving licence are all in english, and the requirement stated clearly. :)

soft on the outside and hard in the insided

does that sound ..horny..hahahhaha

ya it dosent..more like a wet towel

but this is what Michelin is doing to their tyre..

Michelin is one of the biggest tyre companies in the world. It makes tyres for cars, motorbikes, plane, earthmovers and of course bicycles. The bike bit might only be a fairly small part of the Michelin rubber empire, but it can call on the R&D of all the rest of it. Which means that people buying massive dumper trucks are helping to pay for new bike tyre designs.

The new Dual Compound tyre range doesn't have much to do with dumper trucks, but it does have quite a lot to do with motocross and motorbike enduro racing. Tyres using similar technology have one eleven World Championships in the last couple of years. On the bicycle side, Julien Absalon road Dual Compound tyres to Olympic and World Championship victory in 2004.

So what's it all about ? The idea is to avoid a compromise that usually faces tyre designers. You can choose soft rubber that'll grip better but wears faster and means that you have to design your knobbles differently to avoid them folding over under load. Or you can choose hard rubber that lasts well, gives a stable tread but tends to slide over things. It's a choice between "grip" - adhesion between tyre and surface - and "bite" - mechanical traction, or the tyre digging in to the surface.

michelin_dual_section (5K)

Soft on the outside, hard on the inside

Michelin's new tyres use both. Now that's not a totally new idea, there are plenty of tyres out there with different rubber compounds in the tread. But usually you have something like a hard, fast-rolling compound down the middle and softer, grippy stuff on the edges. Michelin have done something different - the hard rubber is inside and the soft rubber on the outside. Cut through a Dual Compound tyre and you'll see that each knob has a core of hard rubber and a coating of soft, so you get the stability of hard rubber with the grip of soft stuff. As an added benefit, the hard inner rubber gives better puncture resistance than having soft all the way through. As you'd imagine, making these tyres requires some pretty cunning techniques, and Michelin has developed an exclusive "coextrusion" process - both rubber compounds are forced through the same mould at the same time, so there's no air or anything between them.

so get this..the best of both worlds:cheeky:

more infor..for full text http://www.tyres-online.co.uk/technology/silica.asp

the use of silica can result in a reduction in rolling resistance of 20% and more. Assuming correct tyre pressures are maintained and making allowances for varying speeds and different driving characteristics, a 20% reduction in rolling resistance equates to a 5% fuel saving, which, according to Michelin in their promotion of the Michelin Energy, can save the average motorist £65.00 a year, covering the cost of the tyres over the life of the tyres.

The use of silica can also improve wet skid performance. By incorporating silica in their winter tyre range, Vredestein claim to have improved wet skid performance by as much as 15%, substantially improving braking distances at the same time.

saw a program call Top Gear, once again many years ago, with regards to stopping distance of okay tyres and bald ones..

surprise...

the bald ones perform just as good as the okay ones (if not better) in dry roads..

but ..it is a disaster in wet roads..

They've finished season 10 a few months back and season 11 is starting late June. Dl the past episodes through bit torrent from HERE.

Carrefour at PS is out of Total Brand EO! I change every 1500km - so I"m looking for the range of EO that is budget yet decent.

Any recommendations for other brands of Semi-Syn EO that we can buy and DIY for our Phantom?
