O-Ring (X Ring, XXX Ring Whatever else ring) has a claimed longer lifespan as opposed to non O ring chains. What was the brand of your O Ring chain? I suppose it's H rated as well (Because of it's more expensive price tag)? How many times have you oiled your chain?

With chains, there's always a compromise. A well maintained chain means either more cleaning or a very dirty rim (It's the latter for me). On the average, I lube my chain at least once a week. It has proven to outlast the sprockets life on my bike, and considering the fact that the bloody chain had only a lifespan index of 100 (The lowest amongst 428 chains available for KRR). Most other chains had lifespan indexes of minimum 120-400 to 500+ (Again this is for the KRR).

If it's too troublesome to lube your chain frequently, change your bike & buy one with a shaft drive. (Forget the regular transmission oil change and you'll end up mega$$$ poorer).....

One more tip on chain lubing. Lube it only AFTER you ride. The heated chain makes it easier for the lube to cling on & stay.

i only clean my chain every month with kero then apply WD-40. will anything happen to the chain??

Feb '05 - Nov '06 ---> KRR150RR (FS7177Z)

Nov '06 - Feb '07 ---> CBR400RRR (FM3727C)

Mar '07 - Nov '14 ---> CB400SI (FT1733K)

Nov '14 - Now ---> NC750X (F******K)

I'm the wrong guy to ask about cleaning chains. I'm paranoid about "degreasing" it and reoiling it as it sounds redundant to me. In my opinion, a thick gooey chunk of oil & grease, chain wax or watever sounds best on a chain to me....

If the bike you were talking about is the Yamaha RXK, then I would say that it is a good bike! All you wussies who complain about valve jam, fairing crack, high maintainance bla bla bla... go buy a RXK. It is user friendly, damn easy to ride, cheap & widely available parts, easy to mod, runs almost forever on a tankful of petrol.

In fact, the bike I owned before the KRR was a RXK and till today, I believe I have rode even faster at THE GAP on my RXK than anytime on my KRR (Although I have not officially timed my timing on the KRR yet).

HAhahahaha.... comes with a mainstand too. Lube your chain yourself and no need help.

Suzuki??!! GS125 or TRS118 perhaps? Can't think of anymore old bikes that can be classified as "fast" & "Ah PEk" (Unless it's the TXr150 but that's rare now. Now that is another fooking fast oldie!)

Go to one of the websites of the big boys in the chain industry, Tsubaki (NA in Sillypore), D.I.D., EK, RK etc.. you will find that even O ring chains within the same brand, there are many different variations, specs & of course price. For your info, I have done my research about chains 2 weeks back. The chain which I would have loved to have costs $1XX + and it's not even O ring!!! Secondly some shops do quote their prices with new sprockets, while some price it without. Please check on fine details like this to have a clearer idea what is really a better deal for you.

BTW this forum is no good, it's just this thread because we are the KRR BRUDDERS (Laughter accompanied by thunder!)... CHEESY!!

Lastly, suspicion may lead to spending unnecessary money. Confirmation saves money. You know what to do.

Better not use WD40 if yours are O-rings. It kills the rubber in them.

Mine is just normal stock chain, so far only tightened twice because I never lube regularly initially. Been 4 months since I last tightened, regular lubing helps. :thumb:

I think I saw that RXK on SLE. I was on the first lane(road hogging) at around 120km/h on my meter. Then I see this uncle riding a RXK on middle lane going very fast, crouched in racing posture. Took me a while before I overtook him at my constant speed. Once I passed him, macham triggered some nerves in the uncle, he crouched even lower and sped past me.

Then, I was in top gear(and feeling lazy to downshift), tried to open throttle but the powervalve just refused to open and the RXK left me in his wake of smoke and smell of 2T. Initially, the uncle slowed down after his overtake, as if, urging me to pass him again. Don't want a bruised ego again, I just filtered to the middle lane and cruised behind him until he finally WOT'ed away from me. :faint: :sian:

Regarding the lubing of chain, I just lube 1 area then push the bike away 3 small steps then lube the next area. Doing this until I can see that the chain isn't dry.

Hahaha, I like that story about your RXK. Did the new owner manage to wheelie it yet? :lol:
