Yo guys, click on the link to check out yamaha XJ6 diversion. Its a new bike in the yamaha 2009 bike range,but not sure if it will come to Singapore...search the site for 2009 YZF R1 too...

well other than higher hp and slighly more torque, everything else is the same. but bear in mind the max power for the xj comes earlier than fz. and i guess its all par for both of em and which fz will outspeed the xj after the fz runs out of breath at 10000. although i have to say the difference of 20 hp is quite huge.

The new Diversion is using a detuned FZ6 engine, which itself a detuned R6 engine.

 

It is retuned for lower torque, even better. Cos I tink basically if you buy a mid-sized commuter, you are looking more at low-mid end power, not high end speed.

 

Seems the price is set at the lower end, good. Means we got more choice other than the FZ6 and Hornet in the 600cc bracket.

but just wondering will it be available in Sg. after all, there are some interesting Yamaha models which are not seen here.

I love the XJ600, very very nice headlight (similar to FZ1N)

but i notice there is one whole big lumpy box which is part of the exhaust system. wa liew if that one rust ah is damn jia lat lor.

fierce looking headlight, slightly heavier than FZ6, more choices in the 600cc range street bikes.

XJ6 is gd on SG rd but not suitable for long distance touring IMO.

I believe it should be cheaper rite? its doubt as a entry level bike...anyway in europe it is 1k cheaper than the FZ...anyone know how much otr for this bike here?

hi ppl... sorry to pop ur bubble but the quotation from hong leong is ard $17k+ otr for XJ6 Diversion and $15k+ for the fz6 s2.. I feel tat it's kinda weird for what i feel is a lower spec bike to be priced higher than the higher spec fz6... haiz.. i orginally wanted to settle for the xj6 but after looking at the prices i dun tink i'd wan 2 pay the $2000 extra for it...

I feel tat it's kinda weird for what i feel is a lower spec bike to be priced higher than the higher spec fz6... haiz.. i orginally wanted to settle for the xj6 but after looking at the prices i dun tink i'd wan 2 pay the $2000 extra for it...

 

that my fren is the power of japanese yen. added to the current global financial crisis...u get the final price

can save a little on the tyres as compared to changing fz6 tyres though.. 120/160 compared to fz6 120/180..

hate the headlights.. my choice would still be fz6 between the 2..

A detuned is good, but based on many magazine reviews and my personal experience...The engine is a far cry from R6 engine.

Low and mid range grunt in fact is not really as good. And the engine losses its eagerness to rev towards the red line. This in term transformed a frustrating event as you need rev to build up before the bike gets going.

But without the power surge and lightness of R6 engines.
