Thanks for the replies. I found it still smells when left standing over night, so I'm guessing it's probably not the carburetor float. My girlfriend even commented 'can you smell something' when I gave her a ride home today!

eric78, how can I check the fuel cork? Where is it? :)

if urs is VersionS, fuel cork is the one whereby u turn the knob to reserve...there's 4 screws whereby there's a seal gasket within...maybe the gasket hv harden n might cause petrol to leak. If not most prob is yr petrol hose. I might be wrong, better u send to bike shop to double confirm. :)

yes, near the petrol switch...my ver S had the same problem....if u feel the switch very cooling,it may feel dry cos petrol evaporates quickly...that means u need to get that whole set changed....

SMR, I'm living in Korea now.. this seemed to be the best forum I could find for the 400SF! It's not very organised in Korea, there aren't any log cards.

Oh sorry I didn't know you are from Korea... hehe

Btw, remove your bike's seat and you should be able to see the bike model indicated at the chassis.

Correct me if I'm wrong for Ver S as I can see my bike's model & color indicated on my CB400SF2.

SMR, I'll check that later on.. I don't really mind what version I have though, it's a nice bike apart from the current problem!

Went to a mechanic today, he said the carburetors were the problem because they were letting fuel through to the engine even though it wasn't needed. Some kind of valve problem ?

It's hard to know exactly what he meant, there's a language barrier (I'm not Korean)..

What do you guys think about this? He wanted about 270US dollars to take them off and sort the problem out. Sounds a bit expensive :S

Should I get the petrol hose changed before doing what the mechanic suggested? The hose does seem a little loose at one connection, but it's dry to touch, and the same for the fuel valve. Can't find any leaks!

Man.. Then the fines are definitely not worth it. Last option is to buy a new header from M'sia, if s4vtec's MO goes through..

n if lets say s4vtec MO goes through ,

will inspection or TP operation goes through :deal:

bro, why not try to shoot a few pics of ur bike at the carbs area?

pics tells more than text...

if u know how to remove ur fuel tank, you might be able to do some basic checks to the hoses... a simple check can save u lots of $$$... :)

hope the following helps...

Bro! Finally got your PB1/VerS? Haha.. Remember we were in the same predicament, being bikeless. Although I can't compare to you cos I was only bikeless for 1 week!

Unique motors can do installation for crash bar. They told me for PB1/VerS may need some modifications, but they're willing to do it. I'm currently waiting for the black crash bar to be in stock. Anodized black is chio!

For belly-pan, if I'm not wrong, Motoworld does it. Read it around somewhere. But mind you, wanna change EO, gotta take out the belly pan, then afterwards put it back again.

By the way, how much was the PB1? Plate? Condition? COE until?

Do update ya, bro! :p
