One thing I realise, when one is young with less in the pocket, one is more willing to take loan to buy new bike. When one is older and wiser with more money in hand, one would rather buy a second hand bike but with full cash.

Well, in my case at least thats true. I can comfortably afford to buy any brand new production bike in this world but I choose to buy a second hand bike. I believe more than a handful people in here share the same situation and mentality as me.

Maybe I'm just a miser

Worth it when you intend to ride it until the end of the COE. Like me. However suay suay even before my running in is complete, my friend accidentally bang my bike with his car, causing it to drop on it's right side. Heart DAMN PAIN!!!

Everybody wants a Virgin.

and man had known to always pay more for a virgin..

So far, i only own 1 new bike.. but the feeling also same (maybe becuz it's 2B)..

I was very orientated to buy a spanking new class 2 bike..

but came a very irresistible offer for my dream bike with nice plate/low mileage and the best is that shop that sells it, had been the one i'm planning to buy from for..

New bike $30k + IU + COE + Plate + Insurance + etc = at least $35k

2nd bike $30k with low mileage + plate.. only add insurance and plate was bidded at $3k, savings of $7k for a 7mth old bike..

first owner absorbed most of the damage..

2nd hand bike FTW!!!

I would prefer 1st hand bike if possible. So far I have owned 1 used 2B bike and then 6 new CL2 bikes. Nothing beats the feeling of owning a new virgin bike. It like watching your baby grow up. You get to shower and pamper it daily. But having said that, I also lost alot of money from those new bike which can easily cash out a car. However these days, I will make sure I give the down payment in a way that I will breakeven from the 1st day I bought my bike.

Are you speaking out of experience or is it just base on pure opinion?

Well because, I buy all my bikes and cars with full cash and i still dont find it worthwhile buying brand new.

last weekend, I just bought a secondhand Speed Triple 1050 and pimped it up....whoooopeee!

No, worse. Traded in my R1 for the ZX10R and my friend banged my BRAND NEW ZX10R, causing it to drop to the ground. Now got scratches to my right signal light, broke off the screw on my right footpeg and scratches to my exhaust pipe. Had he not been a very good friend cos he is my bike guarantor, I would have claimed from his insurance sia, just to teach him a lesson...

I've always feel that it's not really worth to go for a brand new bike. Nothing beats the feeling of being able to pay fully for your bike and not worry about loans anymore. :)

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

i have heard a joke... those who got fat ass wife tends to mod their cars, change lots of stuff, exterior, interior and such.

and those who has virgin wife / gf, no need to buy virgin bike... coz feeling is totally different world (trust me)

those who dont... has to satisfy with virgin bike only :cheeky:

like smoking a nice cigar ? haha.. i understand the appeal of a 2nd hand bike.. saving cash while obtaining a good machine BUT in order to be able to find it that person wld have to do his homework, footwork and possess a bit of luck.. not everyone is willing to go tru that hassle
