i've been riding 7 years without box..

what to survive?

if want to bring thing can just put it in a bag.

i wear waterproof breathable jacket and riding shoes..

rain pants can put in compartment.. or no need to wear also can.. its just water it'll dry up soon.

ciggarete put in compartment also.. or put in jacket.

and when i get on my bike i intend to ride it, not repair it.

if want to repair, i'll do it at home, or fren's place or workshop.

most bike compartment can store al least an adjustable spanner.

many also can store allen key and screwdriver.

so choose ur nuts & bolts and tools wisely.. haha

If you got a YBR125, you need a box because the seat cannot open up. Just so you know.

bike mounted with top box is like a 'must-have' to many local bikers, just look around and u'll see bikes with box outnumbering those without.

Uniquely Singapore! i don't see such phenomenon in many bikes-dominated countries like thailand, malaysia, vietnam, taiwan etc.

The more space you have, the more junk you carry.

Yeah, i have to agree with that.

In my box:-

1) Rainoat

2) Lemon Scented air freshener

3) Copy of Insurance papers

4) Padlock

5) Parking coupons + clip

6) Air

can 1... get a good backpack.

all u need is raincoat wallet n handphone maybe some parking coupons

once i carried a laptop also, but it gave me a backache

regarding tools... singapore is so small... theres no need to carry the tools with u... at most put the bike there and return to it later lor

i was pissed when i couldnt mount my box onto my bike after some modifications. it was for a day i went without box. i had to carry my bag with books, laptop bag, raingear. even if i had a waterproof bag big enough to put all in i back would hurt, be it from riding or carrying it around. and i had to tell my gf if meet i cant fetch you, cos i didnt bring her helmet out.

those who can ride without a box, kudos to them. i dont think i can do that; at least not when i still need to carry my gf's helmet around.

i go shopping with my gf not carrying any helmet and lower risk of helmet getting stolen compared to those that lock their helmets on the bike. i dun even need to carry my bag when i shop. rain no need to worry so much, all my documents and notes and non weatherproof items are in my box. all the convenience of having a box.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

A top box sure give you a lot of convenience.

All the essentials like raingear and locks, just put in the box. I dont like to ride carrying a backpack or pouch.

A box allows me to do some shopping too.

Since I got a bike with a box, the next bikes I own all have boxes.

Once you have something and realised the convenience, I guess you will never look back.

It depends what is more important to you. Form or function. There is nothing stopping you from putting a box on a sports bike if you really need a box for daily run-arounds.

Past: KDX200, LC4 400, LC4 620, GSXR750WR

Present: CBR900RRY, Gas Gas EC250, XR250L, XR250RV, XR400 (motard-ed), NX650 Dominator

some maxi scooters cannot fit 2 full face helmets underseat, so still better to have a box to put the 2 helmets inside then bags put in underseat. wahhh.. i think of it also shiok.. but in the end i also didnt buy maxi scooter. haha.

do you have a car? your bike is not your daily transport? if not, kudos to you..

when i took my license, the intention is to buy a bike and bring me around singapore, not to bring the bike to track. so, the box is a must. i did eventually bring my bike to track too, i just take out my rack and box before i go there. :)

not many c2 sportsbike can put racks for boxes. in fact, its only the old honda sportsbikes that have givi racks available. not talking about custom made rack here as they are going to be exp.. all the newer sportsbikes dun have racks for box at all.. at most is a small luggage rack.

I had H&B rack and box on my CBR. Rode it to the track with all barang barang in side the box. Just dump the box at pit area before session starts. Those who lack the capacity to carry tools and spares and refreshments can only look in envy. Hahaha
