i ask on new thread before then someone ask me come here ask =.= :sian:

i just wan to know when buy bike from shop need to take note of which part on the bike

suspension ?

engine ?

front fork ?

so and so

but how ?

i buying by credit

but i can get 3rd party insurance

suspension as in rear suspension ?? so far no problem on phantoms.. even older bikes...

engine... no tick tick sound... no oil leak....smooth running at first crank..

front fork... check oil leak... u roll the bike and jam front break to see the front fork compression and the way it bounce back.. is it too soft or too hard...

so and so well... nothing is guaranteed when buying second hand bike..

Upz la so we have our volunteers for the "Lets Re-Organize PK Forum" project?

as with every thing....

evolution will take place or u go extinct...

i am not surprise that a few newcomers are so fedup with the attitude of some the forummers that they have abandon this site...

my personal experiences :

unhelpful and sometimes hostile replies..this could be expected inany forum

i have seen a lot of smart aleks in my life..(.i was one.). they are many here..

the search function is clumsy and hard to use..

u see i believe most people comes here for a simple reason they want answers to their problems...some are here socially...

so if they cannot find what they are looking for they leave..thats simple ..

so if the site is "difficult in locating answers" the outcome is obvious..

so it is not a question of people asking the same questions over and over again...if they can find the answers they wont be asking..anyway people takes the easy way.out and expect the answers given to them rather than do their homework..

so may i suggest ..the owners have to decide what they want to do next

are they happy with their site...maybe all the volume increases asa result of the same people day in day out ..

wherether the file gets thicker and thicker..is happy problem or not is not up to us to decide..as this is a commercial site..

maybe its time for a revamp...

a compilaton of FAQ...may be required to guide nwecomwers/newbies..for a start..:cheer:

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time:dot:

Hi bros and sis...

Newbie question here...was caught in the rain today, really pouring down...my bike stalled at a trafiic light as I tried to move off...I thumbed the starter switch, didn't start...tried again...only started after like the fourth time...then as I tried to move off...stalled again...

Eventually, I got it started, kept the pressure on the throttle...and no more incidents...

My question is this...is it normal for phantom to stall when the engine gets wet? Or is there something wrong with my bike??

Either ways, what can I do about this??

Thanks in advance...

Since you are able to keep your engine running by opening the throttle slightly, its unlikely that its due to a wet spark plug. You may troubleshoot in this order

1. Idle speed may need increasing

2. Carburetor may need tuning (too rich imo)

3. Battery may be weak.

Chrome paint? Chances are the finish will absolute crap.

Chrome is plated & not painted. No way a 'mock' chrome paint will come even close to the genuine thing,

haha... well, ur not the only one... i kena the same thing when installing my handlebar... few options lor:

1. rechrome the crashbar - $$$$$

2. change a crashbar - $$$

3. buy silver/chrome paint to cover up the scratch - $

4. live with it

yeah, paint will make it look like crap... but probably will lower the degree of rust settling in...?

even if u go for rechrome, the finish will depends very much on how much u can sand out the scratches... also it will be costly as need to prepare the surface for the chroming process... also likely to end up more costly and troublesome than option 2, unless ur's is a super unique, one-of-a-kind...

so depending on urs wan kena scratch where, see how lor... if scratches are not obvious (mine's on the lower left side, can't see it normally) then just live with it... mine? boh chap... just oil it a little bit after polish when wash bike to prevent rusting... :p

or perhaps you could try painting it black or whatever colour your bike is if there's no way to remove the scratches....

some phantoms are tend to have lost spark plug cable... which leads to engine stall in heavy rain. (moisture affect the spark plug ignition).

u can check the spark plug cable for any loose connection.

i doubt none of these could be the cause.. as ur bike is running fine on dry days..

mine is crashbar for my sidebox.. not the conventional one at the front..

most probably i will just do some re-touch to prevent it from rushing and still maintain its shine..

you can buy the chrome paints from diy stores.

however, the results will not be as perfect as you expect. the chrome paint looks "matt" compared to the chrome on the metal.

It will also come off if you rub on it, as the paint cannot stick entirely onto chrome metal.

Said it well.

Plus one more point... You can't really protect that 'chrome'-painted layer with lacquer or clear coat without ruining the outlook of the chrome itself. It'll auto change to matt.

I have the best signature.

When cleaning my chain, I noticed that there are little black rubber bits sticking out of the chain, like some rubber stuff stuck in between the rollers. Is it anything of concern? The rubber rings in my chain gone (just a noob guess)?

Not gunk or metal bits, is rubber. Like a small broken rubber band stuck in between and one of the ends sticking out. I only lube occassionally.. not often :o

yeah its normal engines get used to working at certain speeds and all of a sudden you gun the throttle it gets a shock and doesnt want to do it...try in future to vary your speeds when u can.... no banging the exhaust wont do nothing unless u hit hard enough to break it .

it may or may not..

i would check whether is there any physical damage to the exhaust system..ie especially on the joints of the exhaust pipe..if there are leakages loss of power is not surpriisng.
