erm guy can i know if there a way to stop ppl stealing petrol from phantom ? thanks

I dont think you can do that. Unless you faithfully drain out the petrol everyday when u go home ....

maaybe u can try tying cable ties on ur both ends of the petrol tube... den use pilers to pull tight.. but might haf difficulties to take it out in the future without damaging ur tube...

IMO I've provided a best solution possible back then ;)

you need

1) alarm

2) strings (preferbly heat resistant and not so obvious)

install the alarm in your bike, attach 2 strings to near both ends of the fuel hose and to your alarm. Make it sensitive enough that when the strings shake, alarm goes off. But not to the extent when someone starts his/her vehicle beside you that it goes off. Well just an idea from me. Might not work well :cheeky:

You cannot stop a determined thief. Maybe there's an insurance coverage for petrol theft?

Bike cover, plus strings to tighten and lock!!!

Out of sight, out of mind.

I just thought of one simple thing, might not work though...

First, turn off fuel.

Pluck out the tube from the top, not below.

Stick something to stop the flow and put back the rubber tube.

what does this do?

Usually when people wanna drain petrol, they pluck out the rubber tube from below. This time, since something is used to stop the fuel from flowing down, no petrol will flow out... unless he take out the whole tube and discovers that something...

thats a real nice one :thumb: would really like to see what other ideas there are.. imagine we had all of the ideas compiled and tested out then video the 'thieves'

i was thinking along the lines of SS braided fuel lines... but wondered how tight can it clamp... braided to prevent simple cutting... n hopefully the clamp is good enough to prevent pulling out of the ends...

of course, like MarvelStone said, no way to stop a determined thief...

btw, does the usual m/cycle alarm accepts external sensor inputs? now got so many things need to put trigger... fuel line, box...

would be good to have, think vincekam had those lines before? ask him perhaps?

external inputs? hehe self connection via 'lines' tied to it I reckon? :goodluck:

I think if want to pull, sure can pull one... but if u really install, i doubt that the thief will want to spend so much time on your bike due to the nature of what he wanna do ... unless he wanna sabo..

if u really have the mind of stopping fuel theft with this item, my suggestion is to weld it to ur tank instead of clamping it, but den again, if the bugger is crazy to steal ur petrol, he'd go another step of being crazy to tamper with ur bike if he cant lay his hands on the liquid gold....

Cheers!

Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see farther.

hey, dun mean to interupt tis thread but i juz nid some clarification...

whenever i cold strt my bike(like in the morning or after off for 1-2hrs) there's a knocking noise.. it onli started a few wks after i bought me bike, and it last longer and abit louder as time goes by...

i read in de in other post tt it most probably has sth to do wif the "tensioner" or some "timing chain" ? So which is the real fix to mend it ?

Help ?

if "tick tick" sound, then high chance it's the cam chain tensioner... real fix is to replace the item...

if the sound is more like rattling, then can be due to multitude of causes... best is to bring to a trustworthy mech to check out...

Actually how loud is this tick tick sound by the tensioner? and does it only happen when idling? What about when on the move, what symptoms does it show? worried that i may have this issue :p

mine sounds more like the piston is "clanking" against the block, it goes off after awhile of idling or riding.. but when i bought the bike, engine had juz been overhauled, cos the seals were green..

oh, and if i pull the choke when i start it and let it stall the engine, it seems to help to kill the noise..

cannot judge that the bike had been overhauled just because the gasket is new leh... best is ask previous owner on whether any overhaul had been done and if yes, what had been changed...

anyway, maybe sounds like what I am having currently... mine's due for a top overhaul later this year... have gotten two reputable mech to check my bike and both have the same conclusion: piston making noise, need to overhaul, but still OK to ride (in sg) for the time being...

so... bring it to a reputable mech or two to check out the problem... can't really give advise over the forum on things like unnatural sound from the engine...

left my bike untouch for about a month with batt disconnect and fuel valve off..

just now when i connect back the batt and on the fuel valve is able to start.. but then when i on the fuel valve i notice that there is fuel keep leaking for the fuel line that is link from the valve to the carb.. any know what the problem or had encounter this before?

is it that my carb flood.. and need to "clear" the flooded carb so when i on the valve everything is okie?

fuel should not be leaking leh... where is the source of the leak? at the joints? check for cracks along the fuel line n see...?

is it flowing out from the small hole opening from the carb there? you can see it by looking on the left side of bike.

if it is, just turn fuel to off, then run bike for a while, then turn it on again. or you can ride it with fuel to off for about 300m around carpark, then turn fuel on again.

after that, off engine and see if it is still leaking out. if it is, go to planet and change the carb pin. else, if you do as above and problem solved, means pin is just off position...
