if the running hours of the machine is due for overhaul, then overhaul it.

So at what mileage is the bike due for overhaul?

have to check the maker's recommendation....please dont ask me too deep question, i am only a rider not mechanic....

anyone else wanna share your opinion on buying a recently overhauled phantom vs an untouched engine, assuming similar age/mileage?

same age and mileage, then go for overhauled one.

but dont expect the fc to be as good as those out from factory cos of the upsized bore of piston.

Other than the fc, any other expected differences? Can it go faster now?

Heard it was mentioned in the forum some time back that once a bike is overhauled, it will be more prone to subsequent over haul. is that true?

the engine will never be the same again....

factory installed stuff...they have QC and all sorts of tests to ensure that the job is done according to requirements..

but the local workshop,,,,does he have the test equipment in the first place...he is jack of all makes..

.but factory assemblers are trained and spcialised in a a particular task..

the lists goes on and on...etc etc..

come on guys... general questions will get general answers..

not good to call names when someone post questions and others answer.

(that's main reason that i dont answer general questions, not that i know much anyway).

200 phantom can never go faster than ever, not when brand new, not after overhaul, not by big bore, not by power abuser, not by dyno jet.

but for mechanical wear and tear, engine needs to overhaul after long usage. have you ever seen piston at 200,000km ? think of 2 bikes with such condition engine, one has been repaired, one has not.

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR4PaOEytqqP6rI1dZ8yaNRCVzya581GmeQxcoVcqYhykuCohdiNw

and why need to repair after overhaul ? coz most mechanics cant do the proper job..

i've ever seen mech claims done this done that.. but did not even open the engine at all... :sian:

anyway when you ask question, prepare to get all sorts of answer and it's childish to call names when you see an answer that you dont like..

Relax... vvss and kzone. Life's not that long to get angry over minor things. PKs are all nice people. Meet up one day and both will be in "love" with each other.

Getting upset over forum comments must be the darndest waste of time ever.

Anyway, I would negotiate to buy (very cheaply) a bike that has potential but has not been overhauled.

Get it to my own mechanic to do the works so I can be assured of the quality.

Hey guys, just to ask...

Will rust on a suspension, the coil part present a safety issue?

Its a Phantom TA200, rider is about 90kg with back box.

if its just on the surface, then not too much of an issue... but still, you should polish that rust off to make sure that it isn't deep! :thirsty:

Locations can't advise as not too familiar with Bukit Batok but battery price, recommend you go dry cell as more convenient and durable i heard, should be ranging from 30-40

defective suspension no doubt can pose hazard to the rider due to unbalancing of bike, so dont play play with heavy corroded suspensions.

rust corrosion deteriorate the material strength and cause a material fatigue, so its good to maintain your rear suspensions free of rust or would say maintain it to the minimum presence of rust.

since its a chrome surface, can try use autosol to remove the rust and eventually you can get a very shiny surface, i still autosol-ing all the chrome parts for my bike esp my header pipe which give me most headache.

Thanks for the info. Autosol is the black tube with gold bands right? I read somewhere, that it actually is abrasive, wonder if any expert here can clarify, as in it gets the rust, but the chrome beneath as well? Not too sure about this part though

yes it is abrasive, so try not to kill the areas that are not rusty :thirsty:

All,

I too just got a phantom. Anyone can advise how to remove fuel stained on fuel tank? It looks like that the previous owner/s had sort of consistently pump too much fuel and it has stain some of the paint work. I have tried polish but does nothing.

Thanks in advance.

I just got a nice white phantom too =)

Question: the previous owner like to top up 1.25l of EO. I check the dipstick the level is about 1 cm above the xxx. Is that ok?

And I will be washing & polishing my bike on Sun. So normal wax for tank, fender & plastic chrome, and Chrome wax for the metal chrome right?

And how do you guys clean the rear wheel? Was thinking of using acetone but scared melt my tires. lol

congratulations on choosing the Honda Phantom as your choice of vehicle! please read the following instructions carefully on how to install the software...

lol jokes aside, that is too much eo... try to remove some of it such as using a siphon. when there is too many engine oil your would put too much load on the piston and moving parts...

the waxes are ok

for me, I use wd40, but don't spray wd40 at the rims! spray it on a sponge/cloth away from the bike to clean the rims... because wd40 will destroy your chain

Wow, this is nasty! If only we can have a look at the pistons when taking over a bike... maybe one day we will have a see thru engine casing.

this is an internet forum though and I'm learning to ignore them...

And sorry guys for the tension I created... my learning just got accelerated! Thanks a bunch.. i love ya all... appreciate all ur time & effort in responding to questions here... and that's something i appreciate now more than the actual answers to queries !
