Adding little 2T oil into fuel tank for 4-stroke bike and feel the smoothness

update on fuel consumption.

 

this time mileage without 2t, but with new EO, air filter, spark plug and retunning of carb by ah chong = 35km/l

 

but the bike power feels slightly less than before. harder to reach 110km and noisier.

 

Today, with fresh tank of Ron 92 and 2t, the bike felt slightly more powerful but i am not too sure if its the 2t or because the weather was cooling, therefore lower engine temperature.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

@Hydher, try a dry run without 2t for maybe 2k km. then check your sparkplug.

 

if its still the lower cyclinder that are fouling, could mean engine blowby. thats the best way to find out if 2t is really causing the fouling.

@Hydher

 

Agreed. You empty your fuel tank completely first, as in dont ride with the petrol, go and store it in a container or something, then change new plugs and then ride for a few full tank's worth. Then see whether your plugs are getting better. Your plugs look bad.

hahaha! maybe u try to tune ur carb? seems too rich... maybe lean out the mixture abit... but like the others say, try a tank w/o 2t 1st la.. :)

Aiya, i predicted that this would happen to someone eventually. You know the condition of your spark plugs can tell you alot about your bike. My theory of the 2T adding to the incomplete combustion equation and all that crap. Haha.

 

But seriously, stop using that crap, get new plugs and run it normally again. Later become even worse piston jam and all that crap la huh. Haha.

If due to 2t it should happen to all the plugs not 1 sided. This is the vtwin carb not sync or unbalanced. Send to workshop for a good tune should solve the issue. Bike not using 2T can also have foul plugs due to many other reason. Pinning the fault to 2T, too bias.

Here's my plugs after 5k of 2t usage.

Looks a little fouled to me on my rear vtwin cylinders. Top 2 are good.

My butt's dyno tells me there's a world of difference.

Well, when i changed my plugs at 5k the previous times, i'm pretty sure it wasnt as fouled.

 

To naim, tuning of a Vtwin is different.

Dont know about running rich but my fc improved from hovering from 17-22 (3L of bardahl oil when engine sump after filter change is 2.25)

to 27-29 after my previous service of Rock oil fully syn, new filter and plugs and 2t addition..

 

using royal purple now and i just got 26.. but this kinda figures gotta get mean figures.

 

like what limsteel said, could be a biased test. Could be plentiful of other reasons

TC-W3 oil is very popular as an fuel additives. check up this oil. Amsoil meet great oil. cost only $14 at Mxtradings. should be able to keep things clean.

 

i just finish 3 tank of petrol with Redline SI-1 which contain a good dose of polyetheramine(PEA) aka Techron. now i trying marvel mystery oil which act as UCL although not as good as 2T oil but design to clean the system as well. it a compromise between 2T excellent lubricating yet run clean. popular stuff over BITOG.

i use a little squeeze bottle. it dispense about 1ml per second. work well, fast and clean compare to the cough syrup bottle i used to add additive with. i will have given up using fuel additve if not because of it. my bike only hold 4 litres of petrol so it such a blessing to me.

i only need 10ml of additive so it take 10sec. compare to using a bottle, i have to keep rechecking how much have i pour which take much longer. not to mention oily hand and bottle:sian: it work just great my usage:thumb:

 

1 litres of addtives??? what the hell have you been ridingo_O batcycle???:cheeky:

some light powder coating on the rim of the plug

 

six months of local riding without 2t abt 1k km a mth to about total of 6k km fc is 35-40km/l on an aver speed of 60-70km/hrs

 

normally 2 up of 160kg

 

bike use will be suzuki dr 200 old school

 

mixture will be at abt 5ml/ litte

 

next report will be on every 1 mth or 1k km later

interesting, light coating could be the carbon from 2t as that is where the fuel mixture is combusted.

incorrect, white coat on the spark plug electrode means engine runs lean.

2t oil burnt ash-less thus shouldn't be any residue.

brown or tan color if carb tune a/f mix correctly.

 

ash-less on your 2T oil bottle mean there are no heavy metal detergent that burn to a heavy metal salt(ash) to be use for engine with lower combusion temperature. it does not mean there will be no residue after burning. Residue and ash are quite 2 different things as it definition can be quite board.
