Hello guys n gals,

 

Its been a long time since i posted in here. But somethin happened this morning i'm here to seek opinions.

 

Ok, here how the story goes. I haf been riding my bike comin 4yrs now. N i haf changed to an after market exhaust pipe n i took out my silencer. N i haf been parking at that spot (different lots but all in the same area) ever since i got my 1st bike. N i haf joined a new company for about 9months.

 

Ok, since my new company start work early, for the past 9months, i have been leaving house at around 6.30am. As u noe, around tat timing, its still quiet. Everythin was fine until tis morning. When i start my bike to warm up (around 3-4mins). An uncle approached me, wif a very stern look on his face n said "ur pipe very loud. From on top can hear" while pointing to his blk nearby, around 2nd-4th storey. I just nodded n smile for i dunno how to react at the moment.

 

So now, here i am, askin for opinions. If u were me, what would u do?

Just say Pai Say and say LTA approved lor. Then put back silencer from now onwards.

1. tell him LTA approved, you cannot tahan that few mins, please move away into private estate.

 

2. take note of his features, JUST IN CASE your bike got sabotaged. he could be the prime suspect.

Your exhaust no silencer sure very loud.

 

Would be nice if you push the bike a bit farther away to start engine, just to be a good neighbor.

 

If not use back stock exhaust lor....

Be fair, they deserve their peace and quiet too.

No silencer, but got cert = not legal also.

 

But do note down the uncle's features in case he does something to your bike.

Truthfully, if i were you, i would not have taken out my silencer and all that stuff.

 

I know how it feels to wake up in the middle of the night to the piercing sound of a high pitched 2-stroker to the low and loud bass of a sports bike. But that's just me. I also don't like to announce to the whole world what time i leaving and what time i come home. Yes, i am a paranoid boy. I deliberately leave my house and come home at different timings and take different routes.

 

But if i was in your shoes, i would just heck care it. HDB mah. This is Singapore. No one cares about anyone. This are the facts of life. My neighbour old man RXK late nights rev and rev, early morning, want to complain also how to complain. What to do bro.

just put the silencer back in or else, u can tell the uncle nextime,"HUH? what's loud? I have not even started the bike?"

if i were you, the most i will do is to avoid to rev the bike... n slowly relase clutch to move off in gear 1 w/o twisting the throttle n off the carpark... thats to reduce addition noise produce...

 

other den that, i would't bother to do anything...

Put the silencer back. There is no good reason to remove it for road use.

 

It's not fun being woken up in the wee hours by loud pipes.

hmm, i'll probably put back silencer. as much as its my right to rev or install aftermarket pipes, i don't wanna piss people off also.

Wait till you ride super 4 or bigger.... pasang aftermarket pipe.... sure you will want to kopitiam engineer some revving sound!!!

If u are really genuine & hope for an advice, the ans is simple, please install back ur silencer.

 

People will do crazy stuff just like u ,example they will get ready a bag of ****. When they know u start the bike that bag of **** is going to land some where near u.

 

Anyway i hv a Micron, as long as i don't rev to 6K, everything is fine.

if im you, i will continue to ride without the silencer and be very careful with the throttle in future, try to half clutch enter/leave car park and try not to rev.

 

if the uncle still persists and come back to you second time, i will consider putting back the silencer. but even so, i gt feeling the uncle will still come back at you say your pipe noisy.

 

coz its all relative ma, 630am quite early so when compared to surroundings, naturally your bike 'sounds' very loud.

I think i also dun wanna bother. Coz i nv rev it in the 1st place also. Just let it idle as it is. But seriously loh, only 3-4mins leh.

Precisely. Early in the morning. Even wif silencer will also sound noisy. I guess i just heck care in the meantime.

Its better to do the right thing.

 

Its best to respect each others ability to free space, noise and sleep.

 

If he had not approach u to tell u, and for this story is a big ganster, he can even poke u from the behind

from the way you speak, i guess you are already dead set on keeping the bike as it is.

 

if that's your choice, be prepared to have your bike kena reported/ sabotaged, kicked or dropped or whatever. thats the result of keeping your pipe as it is la.

 

he can close his window, but maybe he sleep without air con leh. i pretty sure he's not the only one you disturb with your loud idling, there are defintely others in the neighbourhood as well, just that they don't want to tell you or bother to tell you.

First of all, I salute the ah pek. Here is an old man who is willing to stand for his own and others rights to have a quiet morning. I am sure the are others who are irritated by the noise but this old man is willing to tell you how he feels. Many people can just ignore, just sleep off , bear it but how about the babies, old , sick and just came back from work?

Is strange how is it WE ALL tend to make the old man the prime suspect in case there is something wrong with your bike. There may be others who saw the old man talking to you and then damage your bike.

Anyway what if I were you: say sorry. Tell him you suspect motorbike is problem and would sent for repair. Then up to you to put silencer back on.

REMEMBER: You are not the only one staying in a block of flats. Thousands.

Another way to avoid is, dun warm up for too long lor. Just let it idle for 10~30 sec and then slowly ride out of the neigbourhood. Just keep it low rev until you reach optimum temp then ride normally. It is okay one. This way you clear the area faster.

 

I know sport bike idle sure loud due to auto choke. I guess even if the silencer on, the Ah Pek will still find it loud one. The silencer is just to lower down the sound level and make it legal. Don't forget, he can simply just complaint to police and a LTA officer may just drop by your carpark to spot check your bike.

If u really want to keep d pipe make an effort to push somewhere remote to warm up ur noisey bike.

 

May i ask ur pipe sound noisey or bossy ?
