Up.. still the most value for money bike shop.

Plus

- cheap, gives best value for money solutions

- honest, can leave bike there unsupervised & be sure that it will be fixed

- very knowledgeable in troubleshooting

Minus

- have to wait, cos too popular

- don't expect bike parts to receive princess treatment

Lol. Already fixing up random Phantoms. Common complaints with "no power", or excessive backfire, from poorly tuned carbs are quite easy to do. Anything bigger, get specialist surgeon to help, just like hospital lol.

If I get an Avenger and also get tools compatible with Indian bikes Ah Chong can start doing basic service for Indian bikes (loan him the tools, cater to own riding group 1st). Right now they can't even do oil change for Pulsars (I think he tried once, when I brought a Pulsar in last year). Market exploitation? :p

Ah Chong sells Maxima 2T and Motul 2T and maybe a couple of other types but I think all of these are more expensive than the Shell/Esso variety. When I had a 2 stroke I had good results with Shell VSX and Esso 2T which were at the time 7-10 bucks per litre. Just be sure to warm up the engine first before riding as cold exhaust system = surely have smoke.

NEA apparently doesn't know 2 strokes -always- produce smoke after a cold start / before engine is warmed up.

Yeah, I called in and explain they also don't care about me. Tell me they see smoke, they will fine.

I am gonna write a long email to educate them about 2-strokes engine. It is nearly impossible not to produce any smoke at all.

Would be nice to see someone take action and write in finally. There are a lot of other bigger polluters on the road than small cc, 2 stroke bikes. Hint - tuner cars (esp with cats removed), lorries - especially Malaysian ones, diesel taxis.

Pollution does not equal to amount of smoke. They should be more concerned with invisible pollutants like NO and CO, and the yearly vehicle inspection for machines above 3 years of age already takes good care of that.

1st visit to ah chong with my bike.

first impression, ah chong really looks like einstein.

2nd impression, abit rough/uncouth, but friendly guy. mechanics also.

my phantom needed the headlight bulb and meter bulb changed. as well as a pair of passenger footpegs. one of the mechs there did the change withnin an hour. total cost was 50 bucks. fast and easy. ah chong even test rode my bike to be sure nothing mechanical was wrong.

anyways, if your bike is really clean/ showroom condition, be prepared, as the workshop is rather disorganised and dirty, so your bike will get smudges and stuff on the shiny chrome etc. don't expect vip treatment at planet, seriously they are overworked.

just make yourself visible and ah chong will attend to you. helps if you go during non peak timing (weekday mornings) and know the secret password, (@Pandora's Kitten :3)

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

i went there just before my annual inspection to change my broken signal light, they only charge me $12 including labour(actually i was thinking of installing it myself). Where to find this kinda pricing for a class 2 bike. :thumb:

i see so many good comments, i want to go, but it seems like planet is always very crowded.

Its best to reach Planet when it opens at 9am. ;)

Sometimes regulars like me, I just wait and hang around, got used to it. :)

If you need a honest opinion, Planet is the place to go.

Its rare to find a place that does not carries a chopper.(i mean the bladed knife, not the bike.) :D

There is a good reason why planet is always crowded. His diagnosis and problem solving skills among the best in singapore, if not the best. He needs time though, so dont rush him.
