anyone got experience that their stock pipe got a hole below? i happen to stand there, and felt the exhaust.. felt around, and there is a hole on my pipe, where the header joins the pipe...

wah??my one also got hole leh...i also always like to pour water in and see water drain out...very amusing....u mean u dunno got hole???this is prolly the best safeguard wen in a flood...so water won't get stuck inside e pipe and end up being sucked into the combustion chamber...

help help! tml i getting my bike lei but still dun have the p-plate yet! how ar??? the lta licensing centre dere got sell? coz i going there to transfer the ownership...

bro i did check and the weird thing is it works after 5mins of warming up, or is there anything else that i should check for other than loose connections?

ur bulb is a goner, or e connection, as the light is on alot of things in contact or ard e bulbs get heated up, thereby u have a swee swee working connection, but once its too cool, u do not have enuff clearence to render it a full closing circuit...

small prob no worries...change e bulb and see how it goes...still cannot change e connector...

how to check if the brake pad is rubbing against the disc?

when u can brake it means ur pad is rubbing against e disc...but i doubt this is wat ur asking...u mean brake pad finish???i cant really explain in words but i can show u in person...anyway if u hear a screeching sound, means ur pad is gone and ur disc is also on its way...

Question:

What is the recommending timing to off the choke after having start up the bike when using it for a cold start?

once u e engine catches on, u can off the choke le...

Hi all.

I tried to do a search in the forum but it seems not very helpful.

A newbie question. I'm curious if the rear rim of phantom could be changed to those with holes instead of a full disc? My very first post! :cheeky:

pinkphantom has them for sale, or was it only juz a cover. not quite sure...anyway u can custom make one like everyone said, if u got e moolah...

yesterday i sent in my bike for servicing and to repair a dent on the fuel tank, he discovered that my fuel tank is corroded due to wear and tear after draining out my petrol. he suggested changing to a brand new fuel tank for 300+ rather than knocking back the dent and touching up the paintwork for 100+ becos it may leak after a few months (which doesnt solve the problem). anyone here changed to a brand new fuel tank b4 and how much it cost? seeking opinions... thanks

BS lah...unless u have a hole which compromises the fuel inside den u change...and also wat wear and tear is there for juz storing fuel???to the best of my knowledge, without full tank ur tank will only start to corrode, as petroleum are corrosive in nature, so it'll eat away the rust and also protect ur inner tank from rust...

huh so if light get brighter den dimmer means smth wrong izit??

nothin is wrong...take a voltmeter and measure the voltage and u'll understand why its brighter wen u rev, and why its dimmer wen u idle, while revving ur altenator is churning extra powers, and this in turn translate to slight increase in voltage, so dats why u get brighter lights den idling, same theory as ur household spotlight with a dimmer

your headlights should not dim or brighten when reving it should be constant, dimming would indicate a weakening battery (ie no longer holding full charge) my battery is showing signs of weakening but as yet headlight still constant.

u really need to take a fully charged batt out, measure its voltage, den leave it overnight, den u take a reading again, if its lesser by only 0.2 volt ur batt is fine but if its like 1v or more u can change it..this is a more accurate way of testing ur batt holding efficency

aiya... batts are very important, buy the better ones lah. too bad our batt housing so miserably small, otherwise i'ld put in a more solid one... heh heh :cheeky:

thinking of installing a side box den mount up wif a 25AH batt, gd ah...but den muz rewound e rotor coil aka alternator den muz upgrade e rectifier or diode...ths muz ask limbat...he more pro on this...

do what the previous owner of my old bike did.. take out the air box, fit in a K&N, and put in a S4 battery. ;)

did it before, mounted in 2 batt on my bike, one in e batt compartment, the other in e air box...end up current too strong sot all my diodes...nb..both batt are rated at 4AH, so total i had 8AH of batt power...hehehe

hi, i'm curious as to why DID is so much preferred over other cheaper heavy duty chains. DID usually cost 130 in a set, heavy duty 50 bux. i can change almost 3 chains compared to 1 DID. just wondering why.

maybe the comparison is like IRC vs Pirelli, but again,

Most motordiams when queried about IRC and michelin, pirelli, metz would usually reply "ai ya it depends on how you ride, which rubber won't slide if you jam brake in wet weather?"

but not to pick the bones inside egg, i agree that i would take metz/pirelli over IRC anytime even if the price is double. personal experience, IRC slides over white line even in dry weather. i was like wadda fug.

but deep in my heart, if we go by this analogy all the time, spark plug must buy 22 dollar 1 else combustion not good, brakes must buy expensive EBC else braking risky, must buy metal braking hose, must change fully Syn every service and must svc every 1,000 else may kena piston jam..... the list goes on.

i must highlight that i'm just curious, and just whining. if anyone takes offense, i apologise in advance. Just like many people still debate over voltage stabilisers, i'm curious.

sorry abt the long post. hee

regarding chain...e price u pay is for is e o ring and also e quality...but den again u pay a premium for originals...

as for tyres, wat e motor tiams mention is true, so wen ur choosing a tyre, keep in mind wat u want out of e tyre...good grip???long lasting, compound its made of, and also e tyre thread as it'll provide a clue on how good it'll channel away waters before aquaplaning,,,for this juz ask urself wats e purpose of the bike or wat is e bike gonna do most of the time....

if its main task is track tearing, u choose a soft compound with e most grip it'll provide.

if its everyday riding all tyres are great, juz have to choose one wic will last longest or 30,000km of riding before changing and also how it performs in wet weather situation...

if u wan e best of both world u choose those like battlax wic u can ride on track and also everyday use...

anyway, if ur riding a phantom, i suggest u stick to those tried and tested brand or series of the tyres, eg Lasertec for metzeler or street demon for pirelli but no longer in production, or dunlop...this i got no recommendations as i've not had a chance to use, maybe some other Pks might be able to help u...

lastly check e production date of ur tyre...it comes in 4 digit printed on e sidewall or ur tyre, eg 2306 or 5204

this numbers will tell u wen they are manufactured on, 1st 2 refers to the week of the year and the last 2 is the year is made in, so 2306 is actually manufactured on 23rd week of year 2006...so on and so forth...

do not underestimate it as a lucky no. for u to buy 4D as u've to know a tyre although how mint it is, once its out of the factory for more than 2yrs max, its gotta be thrown away, due to e hardening of the tyre compound..

so a long ques is replyed in kind with a long ans

Heard before they said O ring is lighter than heavy duty and X is lighter than O.Thats what I heard.only used heavy duty and O ring before, weight diff I don't know..never held them up and compare. How long they can last and perform is one thing for the price. Its just like buying a cannondale bicycle with light weight body and a normal bicycle made of steel that will rust and weighs more.

actually its more on e ability to withstand constant or sudden high torque, without wearing out e chain faster...so dats y most or all sports bike are fitted with x ring or z ring....

cheers!!!

got a scary encounter yesterday, bought a used phantom from forumer 2~3 months ago. from the beginning, there was this periodic 'tick' sound and occassionly a loud 'tock' sound from start riding the bike. ask the previous owner and said that chain slack and changed only month ago, same for EO, confirm no problem.

Begin new to phantom, and trusted his words, so continue to ride with the free 'music' provided by the bike until yesterday when the music become unbearable loud. so, couldnt stand it and send to koon for service. (should send earlier but have other priority to service first)

he inspected the bike and show me that one of the chain's roller was gone and the most frightening part was the link of the chain with one of its side dislodge from it position and the other was also about to give way.

imagine when u are travelling at the highway with the chain dropping off ....

lucky me still able to write this encounter to share with.

Heard before they said O ring is lighter than heavy duty and X is lighter than O.

DID claims that x-rings creates less friction, better sealing of lub, better dirt protection from seal, better wear resistance than the o-rings... bla bla bla

read more about DID x-rings here...

http://www.didchain.com/xring1.htm

if prices are about the same, i'ld probably try in the next change

Hey guys.. Where can I get those 'cute' kind of half helmets with big goggles?

Kind of like what 'Kai (Saya's brother) wears on his motorbike in the anime Blood+..

Are these half helmets legal? Where can I find them?

You can get those at Lim Ah Boy at Kelantan Lane (commonly called LAB)

These helmets are not legal & not safe. Use at your own risk.

Rev your bike with your headlights on. If your headlights get brighter when you rev, the rectifier is fine and just your batteries need changing.

Market price go market n ask.
